All of us in the Houston/Galveston area sure would appreciate your prayers
and good thoughts. I know there are a few others on this board who live in
Houston. Do you plan on staying or are you leaving? We live out on 290 @
Mason Rd. so we're planning on riding it out. We have lots of propane for
the grill and lots of water and batteries. :-)
Good luck to all!!

All my prayers and thoughts are with the Houston/Galveston area. My
daughter Hollie is there. She won't be able to leave since she's a
curator at the Houston Zoo and will have stay to protect the animals.
Please include her also.

stocked up as much as I can today. As of this morning there was no
bottled water to be had!

Thoughts and prayers are with you. If you are close to that potential
storm surge I would get out of town. Yikes another cat 5 hurricane!
We will be watching and thinking of you. -- MZ

Prayers will be said for those of you in the path of Rita. Please heed
the warnings and if you are told to evacuate , get out fast. This is no
time to not pay attention or to feel a false sense of security.

Sending good thoughts and prayers to all in Rita's path. I can't say I
would want to stay and ride out this hurricane.
This morning's news alerted folks about the possible damage the
hurricane may do to chemical plants and oil refineries in the area. We
can only hope they remain intact.
Praying you stay safe.
Good luck!

Well I don't pray often, but you all sure have my good thoughts and
best wishes. I know Harv best, but the positive wishes also go to all
you other people living on the edge of the Gulf. We can only hope that
Rita diminishes substantially in strength or hits somewhere where there
aren't so many people to be harmed.
Good luck, God Bless

I have an aunt and uncle in Houston. I'm hoping they've gone to stay with my
cousin in Austin. They're in their mid 70s and don't need to be stuck in
Houston heat without electricity. My brother and sister are now my only
first degree relatives who have not been seriously threatened by a hurricane
within the past year (except one cousin who lives inland). And they think
we're crazy to be living in the far north! Prayers for all along the Gulf
Coast.

I am glued to CNN and all in harms way have my prayers.
A friend on a sewing group posted last night that her
daughter had been driving out of Galvaston and in the
car towing a trailer with 4 horses and a large dog. She
was driving alone and getting sleepy since she had been
in the car for 24 hours but no way to pull off. Her
mother was frantic. Late last night she posted that she
has contacted friends about 95 miles from the coast and
gotten off and made it to them. They took care of the
horses and dog while they put her immediately to bed.
She was going to get up early this morning and start
again. I think she was heading to Austin.
What a nightmare for you all.
