I have a new Dell computer that went on line last Friday.  It worked
perfectly until yesterday AM at which time it stopped downloading email.  I
still get my news groups on Outlook Express, but it will not show my email.
I have called knology twice and neither person helped at all.  The first one
told me to call Microsoft; it must be a problem with the program. The second
one asked if I minded waiting a minute, and ten minutes later I hung up.
Does anybody have a suggestion?  It uses Windows XP home & has a celeron
processor.

It is really difficult without more information.  You might start by
going into view,  then current view, and check if show all messages
has a dot by it.

My other suggestion would be to check if your account is set up
properly.  go to: tools accounts then check to see if your mail is set
to the correct server for your ISP. Your ISP should have provided that
information

Will is send e-mail?

GWen,

I got a new DEll last year.  And now that I think about it, I had 2-3
days without email right after it went online.  Maybe it's just the
system booting up.

Just my .0002,

Gwen,
Can't help much without more info but it sure sounds like a setting or
else you POP3 server is down. Your provider should be able to tell that.

Hi Gwen,

Click > Start All Programs > Windows Update & get the latest updates.
Look for updates for Outlook Express & the windows firewall. More
often than not the XP SP2 Firewall is the cause of something not
working that did before.  Also you should check that your OE POP3
settings haven't changed.

Thanks Alex.  Funny thing-------my email started downloading this afternoon
but then STMP wouldn't work so I can't get anything to go out!  I remember
Donnah talking about the Dell from H**l;  maybe I got one of those!

This is a software/user issue, not a Dell hardware issue.

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Hi Gwen,
I forgot to say you should have Windows Automatic Update set to tell
you when it get an update so you can go to Dells update page & get the
fixes for any problems the MS update causes.

i'm a user not a fixer, so i won't be much help.  but i can sympathize,
knowing how frustrating these little boxes, that open the world up for us,
can be. (((((((((gwen))))))))) hoping it behaves itself for you.
