Dear Folks,

You may remember that I was having ankle problems.  The podiatrist said
it is Tarsal Tunnel.  I've been in an ankle brace for over one month
now.  (it feels so much better!)  The neurologist said that he was
unable to make a distinct diagnosis due to thick skin.  The pod.
ordered me out of the boot (brace) with instructions to come back on
Monday!  (hah!  hah!  I just put the boot back on!  I can't stand the
pain any longer.) He wants to do surgery to thin down the tendon which
is strangling the nerve.

Thanks!  for the wonderful advice,

Vickie B.

Hi Vickie,  I am so glad you put boot back on.  A great many of us have had
to wear a brace on our backs, ankles, wrists, knees,,,ect, ect.   It really
does give our body a chance to heal but like prednisone there is a price to
pay.   If we wear the boot or brace too long the joint or joints support
muscles start to loose strength which makes it so easy for us to do it all
over again maybe with more damage this time.   With pressure on a nerve it
doubles the loss in my mind.  I went through two years of pain with my lower
back and wearing braces, seeing doctors and having PT before it slowly got
back to normal.  I was very lucky. Please get the pressure off that nerve
and maybe change the way you use the area.    I thought the brace was to
allow me to continue to work as always,,,, Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Sounds sort of like carpal tunnel syndrome for ankles.  So glad you are
getting answers!

Dear Skip,  it is!  It is just like carpel tunnel in the wrist.  But in
the ankle it is called tarsal tunnel.

Take care,

Vickie B.

Well,  the doctor has decided to go for a MRI.  I make that appointment
tomorrow (today) and we'll see.  It does hurt just like Carpal Tunnel!

Thanks for asking,

Vickie B.
