Hi,
I thought some group readers might want to know about the Rheumatoid
Arthritis section on RemedyFind.
A little background. RemedyFind is a free and unbiased site (not sponsored
by any drug companies etc.) that lets individuals rate the effectiveness of
the treatments they have used for specific health conditions. I started it
4 years ago to try to find help with treatments for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
(which I¹ve had for some 20 years.) After doing the CFS section I realized
the same approach could also work for other chronic health conditions, and
so the site has now grown to cover some 50 conditions and has some 85,000
members and newsletter subscribers.
Some 300 treatments are currently listed in the RA section from DMARD meds
to antibiotic therapies, nutritional supplements, dietary and self-care
treatments (and please suggest others that should be included). Here is the
page for the RA section -
http://www.remedyfind.com/hc-Rheumatoid-Arthritis.asp
Obviously everyone is different, and what works for one person with RA won¹t
necessarily work for another, but my hope is that certain trends might show
themselves over time, and after hundreds or thousands of patient ratings. In
the future we will be adding features that allow users to view ratings
according to specific diagnoses and subtypes, as well as according to
gender, age etc.. In the meantime, members say that it is simply helpful to
hear other patient accounts of what has, or hasn¹t, worked for them.
We¹d be honored by any RA treatment experiences you care to share good,
bad or ugly! The site is free and members can be as anonymous as they would
like - you choose your own member name and your contact information is not
shared with anyone.
All the best,
Brett Hodges

I also like RemedyFind. It serves as a useful point of reference.
One thing that intrigues me tho - is that antibiotics come out near the
top (if not THE top) of the remedies/drug treatments for RA.
Did all the people on antibiotics get together - or what ?

Is anyone here on antibiotic therapy??
I've heard good and bad on it, and was just interested to know.

They are all over on another site -- drawing a blank
now. .... Oh, the roadback.org??
It works for some and not for others. Depends
apparently on how the disease is first set into gear
[some theories are viral]. I for one would not like to
be on an antibiotic long term as it might lesson the
chance of one working for something else like massive
infection. Of course, that is my uneducated brain talking.
Having said all that, when my husband was being treated
for a massive infection [even found himself in hospital
on IV antibiotics] his RA did get quiet for a bit.
Duckie who is lucky enough to have got her RA from both
parents - no virus here.
