Problems Getting Enbrel?

Is anyone out there having problems getting Enbrel?  My regular pharmacist
just told me that Enbrel was unavailable from the manufacturer.  They said
that they would keep trying, but suggested I contact my doctor to get a
prescription for something else.  I then contacted 2 other pharmacies and
heard the same story.  I called my rheumy and that was the first that they
had heard about any pharmacists having problems getting Enbrel.  They
provided a sample to tie me over and contacted their Enbrel rep, who also
was not aware of any problems.  I also called the Enbrel phone number and no
one there was aware of any problems.  I hope this is not another shortage.
I thought they had built some new plants to keep up with the demand.  I
wonder if this has anything to do with Katrina.  Enbrel doesn't have any
plants in Louisiana or Miss., do they?

I am just wondering if this is isolated to my location - North Carolina, or
if any of you are having problems filling your Enbrel?

I had no trouble getting my supply this month. It arrived on 9/6 from
the pharmacy in Columbus, OH my insurance (HealthNet Northeast) said I
have to use. I live outside NYC.

Reposting this one too. Why is your doctor taking you
off something that you say seems to be working? It has
been lots of people's experience that restarting a drug
is never as good as it was the first time.
Are you seeing a rheumatologist?

I just picked mine up from the pharmacy last week. It was a three month
order and came in a few days after I ordered it.  DianeW

none for me!  I just picked up a new supply of Enbrel last Wednesday myself
with no problems.  Had to wait an extra day after calling it in because of
the Labor Day holiday, but no other complication (and that little delay is
just a small town pharmacy situation I know I'll have to work around!)

It will be 3 months from now before I find out if I have a problem with
supply or not.   That TB medicine put me in remission for almost the whole
time I was taking it and I built up quite a stock in the frig.   I learned a
long time ago to continue to order when its time so that I am ready for
supply problems.
By the way,,, two weeks after the TB medicine was stopped,,,, here it
came back big time.... The hopes of being cured went   whistttt out the
window.  :-)

That is the way of ALL RA medications. You were lucky
the TB drug was holding you back. Perfect example of
why a good medication is necessary. Couldn't bring
myself to scold the person earlier trying diet control
alone with pain killers. They will have to learn the
hard way and today I am too tired to hold up the
windmill they are tilting against.
