Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to thank the people I talked to a few months ago about
pregnancy and RA.

I also wanted to let you all know that I'm also about 10 weeks pregnant as
well with our first baby :)
I'm completely and ecstatically happy about it and am off all drugs except
the 10mg prednisone which I'm told is the safest drug to be taking while
pregnant if you cant get by being on no meds.
Talk about fast within 1 month of trying to conceive I was pregnant and I'm
37, I was amazed as I thought it would take quite a while if it even
happened.

The baby is due in April 06 and after that I will be starting Methotrexate
to try and control my RA and get me off the prednisone.

Anyway I just wanted to share this with you all as many of the posts have
made a big difference to me when I've been feeling depressed, whingy, whiney
and sore but also when I've been feeling happy, pain free and good as well.

thanks everyone

Kim

That's great Kim!! Congrats!! And to be past the critical period too. 10
weeks was such a relief for me! If you have to stay on pred throughout (even
just 1-2mg), remember that you will need a booster steroid shot after
delivery, as your body stops making it on it's own when you're on pred. -
talk to your RD and ob about it now and make sure it's in all the files. But
also double check at birth (like you won't have enough things to focus on!
LOL). But it's really important.

Also, about the mtx, if you had any thoughts of breastfeeding, you might
want to ask the RD about trying plaquenil, enbrel, or humira first, all of
which are considered low risk for breastfeeding. But if you aren't thinking
of nursing, than it doesn't matter.

congrats again!!!

Congratulations, Kim!  I hope you have one of those pregnancy remissions.
But, either way, I know your child will be more than worth doing without your
meds.
