Well - we've been in the house one week now (as of Saturday).  All the
smells of paint, carpeting, new furniture, etc., are going away. Today
we got a garage door opener, AND a new washer and dryer as a
house-warming gift from DH's sister. Tomorrow night all our household
goods will be delivered by a dear friend of ours from Maryland.  It's
all coming together.  We also got a new office chair since our other
one was accidentally sold at our yard sale.

We spent the afternoon at Wright Patterson's Medical Center ER (about
80 miles one way). I have been out of one of my blood pressure meds
since Sunday and was having serious dizzy spells.  End result was a 90
day supply and an appointment next week.  We can't see our new civilian
doctor until she receives our records from the military base in
Maryland and then sets up the appointment - first opening right now is
October something.  So we'll get the medical stuff in train.

We're really enjoying Ohio. We will soon have to change over our
drivers' licenses, registration and title. Then we'll officially be
Ohioans.

Then you will be official "Buckeyes"  Have ya found the tree yet????

Enjoy your new house, DeeTee. Sounds like you got a lot of new stuff!
That's FUN!!  One of the things I love about my apartment is the washer
and dryer. I do LOVE not having to go to a laundromat anymore :)

Make sure you take your meds. That is one of the things my doctor made
me promise him. I take blood pressure meds as well. Luckily I take them
in the morning so I don't forget. The one I tend to forget is the heart
pill at dinner time, but I've only done it a couple of times.

Study hard for your drivers license test. That was one of the hardest
things for me when I moved to Washington. I hadn't looked at driving
book for almost 40 years, LOL :)  And of course each state has different
rules, so you have to learn different stuff.  But I passed :-)))  And
the funny thing is that the best photo I have of myself is the one on my
Washington drivers license.

Carole, when we came to Alabama from Florida I was scared to death to get my
drivers license here.  I got a book and studied, then got to the place ready
to take the test and found out I didn't have to take one.  They just issued
me a license here from my Florrida license.  Boy was I relieved!

Wow, that's cool! In Washington, you don't have to take a road test
(thank God!) but you do have to take a written test. I wonder if the
reason that you don't have to take a road test is that the inspectors
are afraid to get into a car with a New York City driver, LOL!!!!! :-))))

My favorite "amusement park ride" is a taxi ride around a major city.  LA,
NY, and DC are good.  But San Francisco is my hands down favorite.

If you want a really good one, go to Rome, Italy!!  They are NUTS over
there!

One of my goals in life.

I also wish I could get away with going to Mexico and driving like a local
for a couple of days.  It looks like fun.

I have already been told by my daughter that there
definitely is a test to get a CA one. They discovered
it when they went to get a new license. Surprise!! Talk
about crash study.

You might not have to crash study. I think Washington gave me a few
months to get my license and it wasn't that bad :)) It was mostly those
silly questions about how far it takes to stop the car when you are
going "x" miles per hour :) And there were a few rules that were
different in WA than NY. Other than that, it was mostly common sense :)

Yep...once when I moved, one of the questions that tripped me up (I
still passed) was how close you had to be to the curb when you parallel
park!

My mom says that depends on who your passenger is.  She wants to be
close enough to not have to step up the curb!!!  You do know that the
first time you are on your own and you do a beautiful parallel parking
job, and there's no one around to see it!  LOL

Something about changing their car insurance, getting
it registered and getting their new license the same
day. They were in line when they were told they were
going to have a written test. Both were given a book on
the spot. That is what I meant about crash study. lol

Yikes!!!  In WA, I got my plates changed, then did the license thing a
few weeks later :) And one of the residents at my apartment complex had
the book, so she gave it to me. I studied by the pool :-)))

I thought you meant they "crashed" into the people behind them when
they decided to go home and study first?  Most places allow you 30-45
days, but then you do have to do everything at once.
That would be a rude awakening.

I heard from my dad that when he got his first Florida license about
oh 25 years of so ago, he had to know the "fine for passing a stopped
school bus.."  Now who would know that unless you had been fined?  Is
that the kind of drivers they want?  LOL  Lots of people have
mentioned that every state is different so you can't tell by an
average or where you came from.  I don't even remember what we had to
do here in South Carolina when we came here 33 years ago.

Glad things are coming together for you - except for the dizzy spells - and
hope the dust settles quickly so you can really enjoy your new home.

Welcome to the "Buckeye" state.

You will love it and not have the hustle and bustle of the big cities even
though Dayton is just that.  Take a drive up I 75 and see the beautiful
country side and farm lands and you will know why OHIO is the "flat" state.

Love it here and would not move anywhere but Florida in the winter <VBG>
and maybe rethinking that if the hurricaine season stretches into Jan, and
Feb and March...

Again, welcome fello Buckeye.

Ach!!  One of my biggest fears about moving is getting
scripts for my now monthly 13 drugs not to mention the
occasional others that need to be filled less often.
First getting the doctors set up and then....
Hope you are feeling better by now.

So glad to hear that you are in your new home and starting to settle in.
It's always kind of nice to start fresh in a new place.
Please take it easy and remember to take good care of your health!
