Bonnie:  I will put you on my prayer list until the 16th.  Hoping that
it turns out to be unimportant.

Bonnie,

wishing you peace and strength to get thru this. I know it is scary.

I had breast surgery done for an abscess. It was not as bad as I thought it
would be. AT least with mine, they didn't give me time to think about it
though. They spotted it and sent me to surgeon and I was in surgery that
same day. The worse part of it was the amt, they had to scrap and take out.
When it was healing it looked better than the scar I now have. But it is
underneath so I hardly think about it now.

Hang in there.

I have had 2 abscess surgeries myself.  The packing for the next 6
weeks was very unpleasant.  The problem is that I've had this problem
for over 10 years with no sign of it improving.  There is constant
drainage from both breasts from open wounds.  I have seen 5 different
doctors/surgeons and they all say the only fix is full mastectomy.
Anyone have any suggestions or advise?

Michele,

I don't have any suggestions or advice. I just wanted to thank you for
sharing that with us. I now feel very blessed after hearing your story about
your abscesses. I sometimes forget there are others out there far worse off
than me. So thank you for waking me up  to smell the roses again. ;-)

I am not being snotty or anything, I truely mean that. I think here of late
I have needed a wake up call and I think it has been coming but I didn't
hear the ring. Thanks again.

I sure hope you find out something that will work that wont mean full
mastectomy. I don't know how you deal with this at all.

Squirrely Jo

I have to agree with Squirrely Jo that we need to be awakened to smell
the roses.

Unfortunately, I think that if five different doctors/surgeons have
recommended the full mastectomy, I would advise you to have it done.
They can do reconstruction surgery while you are out, if you choose
it.  Sometimes, we forget what it feels like to be "normal".

FEARS
Known fears are uncomfortable,
Unknown fears a danger-
They haunt the back, pinch the neck-
I feel like an overused Ranger:
You know, the one who's 'lone.
But I'm not really, you see,
For I have God, family, and friends
To give support to me.

You also have the support of all of us on ASA.  Keep us informed,
please, we care.
