Just a quick update. About 4-5 years ago I went to a RA doctor.
Diagnosed with RA. Went on Celebrex (Broke out in a rash like an indian)
Switched to Vioxx. Didn't do anything for me. Then went on Arava for 2-3
years. Worked alright. No pain what so ever. I may have had Mobic during
that time frame also.  May 2004 I had open heart surgery. Two weeks
before surgery my heart doctor took me off all meds. One year after
surgery the pain returned. It started in the shoulders then to the
elbows, wrists, knuckles and hips. This started in May 2005. I called
for an appointment with RA doctor. Appointment was for August 1. On Aug
1 I received a telephone call that the doctor would not be in.
Rescheduled for September 19. Pain getting gradually worst. Tylenol
works about as good as M&M's.  The last few months I have extreme
fatigue, lack of energy and strength. Is this normal for RA? I won't
find out for at least 3 more weeks providing the doctor doesn't cancel
out again. Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.

Yes fatigue and weakness is definitely part of the symptoms!   Ask for
a cancellation, you need to get in ASAP usually it takes months before
a Disease modifying drug starts to work.   In the mean time you might
ask your primary care Dr for some help,  a course of prednisone might
help as a bridge therapy until you start a disease modifying drug
(they call it a DMARD).

Hi Bob,,,,,   Good luck with getting back with your RD.   It reads like you
have gotten all the Arava out of your system and the RA is kicking in again.
Nothing is going to help you until you get a working DMARD back in your
system    It could be that your heart doctor and RD will have to work
together to help you.
Please make sure your RD is up to date on what took place with your heart
and how long its been since you have taken a Arava.

Why did they not start the Arava again after you healed
from your surgery [my case with knee replacement - 6
weeks]?  You need a good working DMARD. Poke around on
this site which is full of good information
