OTP - Prayers Please

Hi!

If those of you so inclined could please add my Mom, Dorothy Stavis, to your
prayer list, it would be very appreciated. Please pray for an accurate
diagnosis and full recovery.

Mom is back in the hospital with pancreatitis. She gets this about every 5
months. It's been going on for two and a half years, now. Her previous
doctor would just stabilize her and then discharge. No looking into the
cause.

Uncle (the PedRD) thought it might be her methotrexate (it's a rare side
effect). But it behaves just like whatever made my sister's and my doctor
decide it was gall bladder problems. Sis and I both had out gall bladders
out and never had another attack. Sis will try and get hold of the Resident
on duty tomorrow and try to get him/her to pay attention to the family
history part.

OK - sulk time - It's my birthday today. 45th. On the downward slope. Mom
actually called yesterday after she was admitted to wish me an early
birthday. Older Sis (in Denver) apologized for not calling (as I had called
her) but still remembered. Younger sister, living just 20 minutes away,
didn't remember hasn't called any of us to ask about Mom.

Celebrations were low key but wonderful. I cooked my favorite (splurged on
1/2 pound of veal to make parmagiana). Doug got me a book by Terry Brooks
about the process of writing, and a book of sudokus (my current addiction),
and the kids got me gift cards to Barnes and Noble. We hade a raspberry
chocolate cake.

The day was a zoo because Becca was trying out for one of the freshman
soccer team. Between split sessions and things she forgot, I made the trip 6
times (Just 7 minutes each way). Then Ian had karate. All short trips, but I
don't think I had more than 1 1/2 hour without driving somewhere.

Thanks for prayers, for letting me ramble and vent, etc.!!!!

Thanks for the birthday greetings. Haven't hear yet on how Mom is. It's 2
hours earlier in Denver than here, so I need to wait.

Thanks, SJ. It was actually a good one, just a little more hectic than my
little brain likes.

On the one hand, I'm a bit ADD. On the other hand, when I *have* to change
focus often, it's very tiring mentally and I start getting short tempered.
But Becca is starting High school, so I'm going to have to get used to a
different level of activity around here.

On the way. Hope the outcome is much better this time
with cause being discovered. That baby sister is acting

Adelle, prayers on the way that the source of the problem will be found and
corrected.
And that it won't happen again.   And a belated happy birthday.

Adelle,

Happy belated birthday!!!   You are still just a young spring chicken!
;  )

So sorry to hear about your mom being back in the hospital so sick
again.   That has to be so frustrating for all of you!

Sending lots of prayers and healing thoughts your way and also a prayer
or two for you to have just a little time to indulge in something
special just for you!

Hugs!

prayers are on the way for your mom and especially for getting her hooked up
with a good GI guy this time so the problem can be *resolved*, or at least
controlled.

As for 45, heck life's just starting to get good!  I always say I married a
man who's 12 years older so I always feel young  ;)  Truly though, I figure
if he still has that little boy fascination with the world at 60, I surely
can keep it at 48!

Happy birthday, a day or two late.  May next week be a good one for ALL your
family.  And what are sudokus?

Well, they discharged her again without a diagnosis. It's an ins. issue.
Docs are saying it can't be her gall bladder because the CT scan doesn't
show any stones - even though the symptoms are just like her kids' gall
bladder issues. sigh!

Then there was the biopsy scare - resident looked at the scan and saw masses
on the left side and ordered a biopsy. The surgeon, finding out that she'd
been through this twice before asked to see the scans from the last two
years. As they were identical to this new one, he called mom's oncology
surgeon and found out she has an extra lobe of spleen and scar tissue from
the hernia repair - hence, what appears to be masses. He promptly canceled
the biopsy.

So now they are looking into celiac disease. Except - mom is already on a
gluten free diet for her IBS. sigh. So frustrating.

SUDOKUS - are little number puzzles. It's a 9 square by 9 square grid. Only
some numbers are filled in, and you have to fill the rest. Each row, column,
and 3 x 3 square needs to contain the numbers 1 - 9.

Doug bought me a book of easy ones. I found a program which generates them
at a website. Didn't save the URL, but it's SuDoKu Assistant II, Version 2.0
by ragnarius. But since it's a random generator, most are pretty hard.

Thanks everyone for the prayers and good wishes!!!!
