Billy took today off to go to Birmingham for Jason's surgery. The miracle
has already started! The surgery on Jason went perfectly; the vertebrae are
lined up just right, and they got all the bone fragments out (according to
the x-ray). Tomorrow they will put in a feeding tube and a tracheotomy. He
is not in the halo now, but in a soft neck collar. The surgeon said they
try to get them out to rehab just as soon as possible, and they have two or
three places to check out. The doctor will not promise that Jason will
have full mobility, but he doesn't rule it out either. He said they won't
know for 6 weeks, and then it would take 6 months for him to be mobile. He
told them again that the spinal cord was not severed, just bruised, and that
the sheath around it was not even punctured. We are praying for the finish
of the miracle that God has already started. Thank you for your prayers.
Gwen

What great news. There's a lot of hard work ahead, but at least things look
positive.

It is an amaxing story really when you consider that the first set of
doctors were ready to give up on him. May the miracle of his recovery
continue.

It's so amazing how far they have come with spinal cord injuries. May Jason
continue to recover and heal!

Gwen you hang in there too.
I have worked with Patients like Jason and believe me Rehab right away is a
good thing.
He will learn to do a lot of things and the next 2 months will tell a lot
for him. Please know that he is in our prayers.
Bruising of the cord is Way better then severed, with the right medications
they can shrink that swelling there and he may have a good chance at a good
recovery.
