Gwen,

Did you really post this? Or did someone else post it under your name?

Like Adelle, I wondered why you would post something so full of racism,
hate, and ignorance.  It isn't like you at all.

That is really surprising. It was really offensive humor. And it didn't even
have the redeeming feature of being sly, intelligent or charming to make the
offensiveness tolerable.

Not sure what to say. It reminded me of the caricature stuff about 'Japs'
and the red threat. Certainly propaganda, with the only aim to puff us up
while dehumanizing the enemy.

Sadly, modern terrorists look just like us - on purpose. They are taught to
blend in - to eat and drink the same things as their neighbors. To be
totally hidden until they act. They are often science majors; they can build
bombs, infiltrate computer networks. They are not camel jockeys whose wives
smell like livestock.

And - there are many of us who are not inclined to become terrorists simply
because our religions include neither Jesus nor Christmas.

Ya see Gwen,,,,, you really can not win posting this kind of humor.   Right
off the bat,,, all the no war at any cost people get offended that you want
them to laugh at their personal pain involved in this subject.    Right off
the bat,,,,, the people that think your joke is involved in discrimination
against a people get offended...   The people that have lost family or
friends may not be able to laugh at anything yet and may not be able to for
quite awhile.   You have people that any kind of post that seems to support
the present government Causes them pain and they are going complain about
the joke.   All kinds of thought about your character just because you
posted a joke you thought was funny,,,, can be laid at your doorstep.
These small minded people do not know you like many of us do that have read
your posts over the years and know better.   I say small  minded because
they can take one post and say things  that are clearly not correct when you
look at the person as a whole.

In a newsgroup about support,,,,,, it is just best not to post things
about politics, the war, the people in the war or anything like that because
people who already have problems and pain do not come here to read that kind
of stuff.   It adds to their pain and that is not support.

Ps  love ya anyway......

You missed the simple detail that the content posted is
clearly going to be hugely offensive to a great many people,
and even if posted in "innocence", (?), should, at least in
ethical terms, receive "robust comment".  To avoid such
comment is to lend tacit approval to it.

If the poster is indeed innocent of intent to offend, then a
simple statement that they did not intend to offend should
suffice, and those who would make more of it could be seen
as demanding their own followups.

Whatever, it was in bad taste on each of it's recyclings.

Now that makes sense.
