i'm in raleigh and flaring horribly because of being on my feet
constantly, first packing, now unpacking. actually, my hands are fine.
. . or as fine as they ever are, but my feet and lower legs are killing
me. and there's no end in sight. boxes everywhere.
tho i'm complaining, i am happy to be here and LOVE our new house. it's
a terrific house. if only the boxes would go away. . .

Get some rest, Girl! Unpack what is necessary, put the other boxes in
the corner, and go to sleep. I found that when I moved last summer I
just crashed and burned for a bit after moving. Like you I had run out
of adrenalin to keep me going and all I needed to do was rest. It took
a few days, but then I could devote proper attention to decorating the
new house.
Wishing you noting but good fortune in your new house,

I agree with Rose...unpack only what you need for the first couple of
days and then rest. After that you can unpack at a better pace.

Diane - I had that same problem when I moved my Mom and it was just my luck
that I found a pair of compression stockings in her dresser -- they really
helped the pain in my legs! Have you ever tried them? Good luck with the
house. The work will wait....take care of yourself. By the way, I finally
got around to reading Kiss River....loved it! As usual.

Oh Di just reminded me. I read the three books I got of yours Diane and they
were great. Also read the Summer one, just blanked out the title. It was
also a good one. The three books were Kiss River, Keeper of the Lights, and
Her Mothers Shadow. I believe those are the right titles. IF they aren't
please don't hit me too hard.

When I moved here, long before RA times, I still had boxes after one
year! I knew where they were and what was in them. But they just
didn't bother me. I agree just let them sit until you feel more like
putting them up. Enjoy the new house!
Good luck!

thanks for the responses. my editor just sent me the copyedited
manuscript of my next book, so unpacking will have to wait whether i
like it or not. i can't find anything! help!
Di, i always wear compression stockings. my foot/ankle/leg have really
gotten much more painful and deformed and swollen this last year. when
i start with the new raleigh rheumie, i'll push for more answers and
start the search for a surgeon. the rest of my RA is under decent
control, so i know the foot stuff is really old damage just getting
worse.
i went to my house closing in northern virginia today and picked up my
dogs to bring them to the new house. keeper has already christened the
carpet in the sunroom. lol. they're as confused as john and i are.
di and jo, glad you're enjoying my books!

Isn't strange that when you move you seem to have the energy to get
packed, to clean up, to actually get through the move, and then when you
get to your new place, it seems as if the energy just all up and leaves
on you and you don't have enough to unpack. You look at all those
boxes and it can be so overwhelming! The last time I moved, I ended up
in tears just looking at the boxes and all the stuff that needed to get
unpacked and put in its proper places. I finally had to tell myself
not to stress out about it and to just try and get 2 boxes unpacked each
day. Once I did that, life seemed a whole lot more manageable and
things seemed to move a lot quicker than I thought they would also.
So, Diane, take care of your new book, try to unpak a box or two a day
and before you know it, you will be settled into your new place with
everything in its proper spot!
Sincerely hope you and John enjoy that new home and your new neighbors
and such. Hope the dogs enjoy their new home as well!
Hugs!

Diane - Interestingly enough, yesterday I bought new sneaker and OTC
orthotics at a specialty foot store. By the time I got home, I was hot and
my legs were tired of being in the compression stockings so I took them off
and put on a fresh pair of socks an the new shoes and orthotics. Can you
imagine how surprised I was after 3-4 hours and my ankles and legs were not
swollen??? Must have just been a coincidence but nothing hurt. Was awesome.
Wore the orthotics today in old shoes while I shopped and they are really
helping with the pain. Might be onto something here -=- I'll let you know!
