There are no studies that prove or disprove a relationship to
arthritis. What Drdoc and others recommend is that if a food
aggrevates your condition then avoid it. In general where food is
concerned, the predominant opinion is to limit red meat, and otherwise
eat a well balanced diet.
Gout is the main arthritic condition that is affected by diet.
One has to keep in mind also that "arthritis" is a catchall
term that includes many different types. RA is a disease of the immune
system, whereas OA is more of a wear and tear form. What works for one
can not be expected to work for the other. Even within the diagnosis
of RA there are huge differences, and that is why some people respond
better to one medication, whereas someone else may not.
