Which is so rare from Rosie but I have reason! The new Rheumy is a good
one but the new Dx I have is cruddy. I've got UCTD. That's Undifferentiated
Connective Tissue Disease for those who haven't been at ASA for a long time.

I also have DDD and OA still, of the knees, and the one hip they did the
bone density on sez I gotta watch out for osteopenia there. I'm unusual in
that the hypothyroid commonly associated with UTCD got Dx'd first, rather
than after.

I'm starting Plaquenil. If that doesn't do it in 2 months, it's add on
MTX which is fine by me...with Grape Seed Extract and extra Folic Acid I
would be good to go. I'm already anemic so Pred. was out. YAY! The good news
is no Pred. LOL

Since I still have FM and have never ever found the return line I gotta
go combo. So let's call it UTCD with OADDD and FMHypothyroidhypermobile.
There. Three. Right?

I know there's others out there who got the UTCD Dx before me...could I
hear from ya, pleeze? I truly feel like a spotted zebra today.

Hugs would be most welcome, dear ones. Thank ya!

Ack!

'Scuse the typos. uCtd. :-) I forgot to add I also got the Parvo B19
virus dumped in there, too. Fifth Disease and associated joint pains,
anyone? I think for this reason I got to keep the Neurontin...if not for the
DDD reason, perhaps. So that's good.

This one doesn't count on the 3 disease limit 'cuz...it just don't. LOL

Thanks for listening to me complain and gripe! I appreciate it.

Youuuu got em Rosie.... ((((((Rosie)))))).   Getting answers is a good thing
and you and I facing the outcome is important too.   I can not help you with
the problems other than I am pulling for you and you are in my prayers.  It
takes courage to keep digging with a doctor until a complete plan is formed
to make your life better.   Show us how,,, Rosie.... Keep us informed with

{{{{{Rosie}}}}}, wish I could give a real (gentle) hug, since the cyber
ones aren't all that great, but better than nothing  :\.

You have been in prayers since we first crossed paths, sorry to hear
that they weren't working :-(.  I suppose I'll need to pray a bit
harder, and add a few songs to my ancestors.

There is a whole herd of us spotted Zebra's here isn't there.  Never heard
that term before.  And since no two zebra's have the same stripes, none
would have the same spots either.  I always wanted to be unique but this
wasn't quite what I had in mind.  Of course it does give us excellent
camouflage while we plot right?   Teach those hyena's and lions a thing or
two.

Jo
Rosemarie Shiver - 03 Aug 2005 22:24 GMT
LOL!

Thank ya, Jo...I needed that. The spotted zebra is something my family
used to say as shorthand for "ya just gotta be different. Gotta stand out
from the crowd, huh."

But if it confuzzles the predators it can't be ALL bad. Sorry you have
it...but I'm kinda glad to be in your herd, Jo.

I have been searching for a group where people would understand, and I
think I've found it!
Hi all! My name is Charlene, and I have ankylosing spondylitis.
I am on methotrexate, prednisone, Enbrel, azulfidine among others.
May I join your group? (I sort of already did, cuz I couldn't post
without joining, lol).
I was just looking for a nice group, not full of spammers, that would
understand arthritis and the pain that it really is.
Have I found the right place?
Char
Gwen Love - 04 Aug 2005 18:35 GMT
Yes Charlene, this is the place to be.  Friendly. sympathetic, knowledgable

Bless you for your attitude and what you live with and you are most welcome
here.   I do not mind writing your full name.  We have a long time well
loved member of this newsgroup with the name of Char or maybe you would
like,,,, Char2,,,, or make your own choice,,,, anyway it goes,,, you are
most welcome here.

Soitenly!

We have a Mama Char who hasn't been here enuff recently...so now ASA
has 2 Char's. :-)

Pull up some sand in the Sandbox and post away! If you have any
chocolate, can I have some? I just don't even feel like being subtle...a
blatant chocolate grab's the thing. <g>

     Welcome to ASA, also Char.

You are here.  Welcome and if you find a spammer feel free to chase them
away.  Don't sit near Kenny in the hot tub if you are shy (the ladies have a
habit of stealing those hot red shorts of his and stringing them up the flag
pole) and just give someone your chocolate to hold and order a drink.  Some
just drink soft drinks but KJ mixes a nasty margarita.

Seriously to comment on your post above, enbrel sort of works for me but not
fully either.  That could be from all the infections and time off for that
or could just be that my RA is more enthosopothy than all in my joints and
therefore more like spondylitis we don't know.  It is frustrating though.
Wouldn't do without it though - it and prednisone keep me out of bed etc.
Could you just have pain from previous damage? or are your joints still
swollen and painful?

Anyhow - welcome!

(((((rosie))))

this is NOT a club i would have wished for ya - but at least you will now be
able to figure out how it is affecting your day to day

i've never made a big deal of it but along with the still's:
diagnosed childhood poly/dermatomytosis-some abatement in '59 - all that means
is i stopped having the external rashes; since '83- collagen inflamation-mostly
elbows and forearms, knees and heels where the skin peels away and fissures
crack open - pulmonary fibrosis/nodulitis, polychrondritis, cellulitis,
recurring vasculitis, reynaud's and and and - they tie it up in a bundle and
call it uctd/syndrome...such fun.

since my mother was eds IV, it took 'em a while to figure out that i 'wasn't' -
and that's when they decided to use the connective tissue diag....in the
50-60's, they hadn't started using the uctd label - i think it was early 70's
for that name.

the muscle ache and fatigue that just washes over you  -  sometimes just getting
out of a chair feels like more than can be done...ligaments and tendons that
feel like they want to rip. any wonder that fibro stays ramped up?

so welcome to the spotted zebra herd lady!

congrats on staying away from the pred! too many years of it for me - part of
why i'm brittle now.

be well

Aw...

Thanks, Paul. It's a comfort. So I'm like a combo of you and yer Mom,
since it's EDS III and UCTD for me? Fertrue spotted zebra then.

Dr. McCarthy sez it's 1 in 100 where this resolves to Lupus. Guess
that's good...and shows me he's been leaning to the SLE end. Plaquenil,
mebbe MTX which I can handle really well, and Neurontin. Could be worse. :-)
Would be worse if this kept on untreated.

I posted to our friend Dana about why UCTD for me and to our friend Mo
about all the other stuffs and how I made this doc jump. Whut a day. LOL

Thanks so much for letting me know you share this thingy, too.

Thanks for the nice welcome, and I don't mind being Char2.
Rosemarie, I am sorry for what you are going through.
What is DDD? What types of arthritis are you all suffering with?
I have ankylosing spondylitis and fibromyalgia. It took about two years
to finally get a diagnosis(a correct one, that is), and the fibro got
tacked on somewhere in the middle of that two years.
I am so glad to hook up with some people who know what arthritis can be
like. I am so used to people telling me, "Oh, I have that in my little
finger" and "Oh, my Dad has that".
Do you guys often encounter that kind of thing?
Char2
Rosemarie Shiver - 04 Aug 2005 21:14 GMT
Heya Char!

DDD is Degenerative Disc Disease. The discs between the spine bones are
shrinking.

There's every kind of arthritis here you can imagine ( there's over 170
kinds) and there's a similar spread on our sister group
alt.support.arthritis.UK. The UK'ers are very nice about us crossposting
there and vice-versa.

If you wanna....c'mon over to alt.med.fibromyalgia. Some of us here are
there, as well. I know what you mean. I wuz in the grocery line and the lady
ahead of me was rubbing her elbow. The cashier asked her what was the matter
and she said she had a 'touch' of Fibro! I mean....REALLY. That's someone
who needs to be here, or there at AMF. :-)

Sorry about your AS and FM, but glad yer here. Above 3 diseases and yer
'sposed to find the 'return line' and throw some back....but I ain't found
it, yet! Perhaps you can, Charrly. <g>

My addy's not munged and it's for the use of nice ppls. like yerself.

Oh, yeah...

Oops. Yup. Hey Gwen, I still have the OA but it's not the primary
concern anymore. The RD didn't even talk about my lumbar OA at all. Guess if
there's nothing to be done he ain't gonna say anything.

Guess it's OA+ for me. :-( We OA'ers are still few, and that's really
good.

As someone said previosly, you are hogging all the diseases.  don't know why
you couldn't be satisfied with OA, and maybe the DDD.  No, you have to go
adding on all the other stuff!  Really, I am so sorry.  It's bad when OA is
about the least of your worries.

Thank ya, Gwen...yes that's true. On the other hand, perhaps the other
stuff is stoppable; but heck if I can stop the bone shifting stuff that's
causing the OA. Ya know whut I mean? Arrrggh.
