Just a whine... please forgive me.
My DIL just got out of hospital (for the nth time) on Sunday. Wonder how
long for this time? At least the first trimester is done now. My ex's
grandmother passed away, and I'm leaving Thursday for Saskatchewan to attend
the funeral. Because my schedule is tight and my son's employer may not
have him in the area in time, I will likely be driving all night Thursday to
pick him up and get there and all night Friday to get home. Sleep? Yeah,
right. My IBS is flaring, and my i**n levels are in the toilet... still. I
still have no feeling in my big toes and only partial feeling in my thumbs.
One of my oldest friends is nearing the end of his days (way too soon).
I've been working 12 hour days, six days a week... then coming home to look
after my granddaughter. At least she's gone home for a bit now. And damn,
my back hurts.
There. I know my problems aren't nearly what many of you are facing. It
cooled off last night so we could sleep, and I woke up this morning. Always
a good thing. Sometimes it just feels so damned good to bitch. Sorry. I
just have nowhere else to vent. I'm sure once I get back home and things
are back to normal I'll be a much nicer person.

Janet, until that nice person shows up, just bitch away <vbeg>! Hope your
DIL does well now.

You have a lot on your plate Janet.
Vent away. We don't mind.
Good luck with it all. I am sorry so many of your family and friends
are hurting.

Rose - noticed the fire situation is under control. Hope the smoke isn't
too bad. I know how hard that can be - we stayed at Shuswap Lake the last 2
major fires (the luck of the draw with holidays).
Thinking of you,

Actually we have been very lucky. I think that only the first morning
brought a lot of smoke into town. Otherwise the wind blew it the
opposite direction. It has been very windy, as this area can be, but
fortunately the wind was moving away from town. As far as forest fires
go, we were very lucky.
I think we are getting a bit of smoke now from the Spences Bridge
fire, but so far that is more like a haze.

You have lots to vent about Janet. With luck now that your DIL is out of
the first trimester things will go better. You have a lot on your plate
right now.
Take care on that drive. Will be thinking of you.

((((Janet))))
You have a lot going on right now...as if your own health situation
weren't enough, you have to worry about someone else's _and_ take care
of a small child. There is no way I work those hours and dream of being
able to move at all.
Whine, bitch, moan, scream and yell. You deserve to do it all. I hope
things settle down for you soon.

I hope and pray your DIL improves each day and can stay home. I can well
imagine that your granddaughter (as much as I know you love each other) is
very happy to be home. Its extra tough when the new baby takes all of
Mommy's time and attention from the get go. And when all your adults are
worried and extra tense.
You know you can come here anytime. No one else understands the extra
effort it takes us to do what only looks to them like mildly extraordinary
things. Please drive safe. Find safe places to take breaks when you need
them. And don't worry too much about details. The only really important
thing about funerals is to be there is you can manage it. And to remember.
The long drive will give you private time to do the remembering.
And if you get sleepy driving, stop and sleep for a while. So you get there
late. It isn't like your son's great grandmother is going to care.

Thanks so much to you all for understanding and letting me vent. I just got
off a 16 hour shift, and have to get up in four hours so I can go back and
finish my work. My son made it partway home, so I need to drive 7 hours to
pick him up, and another 6 to get to our destination. Ugh. I'm glad I like
coffee <g>
I realized that next weekend I actually have no plans, so arranged to go
camping and just relax for a day or two. I put the tent out in the back
yard to air out... and someone took it. Good Grief! Some days it just
doesn't pay to wake up.
Back in a few days :-)

If you are tired pull over and rest. Its not worth taking the chance
of falling asleep at the wheel.

OOooh, I hope there is a spare angel to travel with you and guide your
hands. 16 hour shifts,,, four hour sleeps and long travel do not go
together.
It reminds me of a truck driver that hauled Schlitz to several
wholesalers that was well liked by everyone but would fall asleep at the end
of his truck being loaded or in the waiting room all the time and someone
would have to find him when it was time to hit the road.. I watched him do
this for almost 10 years and then one day we heard that he wrecked his truck
out on I-20,,,,, drove off the road into a overpass support leg or pole.
It spread his load of beer all over the highway and people going by cleaned
it all up. Very little was left in the trailer that had split open. He
was a good man with grandchildren who like to laugh at the world and the
people around him. He is missed.

So sorry to hear life has been so rough as of late! Praying you get a
bit of down time to renew yourself and sending prayers that your DIL
starts doing better and can stay out of the hospital for the rest of her
pregnancy!
Hugs!
