Found out today that I now have RA along with the OA.  The doc *was* going
to prescribe methotrexate until she saw the results of my last labs and saw
that my liver enzymes were high.  I fought Lyme disease for 10 years and
that battle left me with higher than normal enzymes.  So, meth is out.

She then said she would give me plaquenil after I see the eye doc to get a
clean bill of health there.  Well ... that won't happen because I see the
doc twice a year for 'borderline' glaucoma.  No medication required at this
point and the pressure has been hanging in there at the 'high normal' range
for a few years.  So, I doubt I'll get the plaq either.

And so ... what's next?  I really don't know what other DMARD's are out
there.

I have to go back in four weeks, after seeing the eye doc and having more
lab work done, but continue with the Lodine for now.

Thanks,

Jean

Hi Jean,    The very best thing you can do is see a Rheumatologist or as we
call them an RD.   If you are seeing an RD,   the doctor has an obligation
to find what controls your problem the best.   The good news for you and
other people today is that you have choices of medicine to take.
We can not tell you what is going to work best for you and your  knee
problem.   If you only have a knee problem, chances are that you do not have
inflam.arth. and have either a structure problem or OA.
I am sorry that I do not see any easy answer for you that does not mean
you have to supply many more answers about what is taking place and what
kind of doctor you are seeing.
