sorry to be so absent this summer!
we just returned from the second california wedding of the summer (fit
into our schedule of selling our two homes and buying one in
raleigh--moving the end of next week---yikes!)
this wedding was my youngest (28 year-old) stepdaughter, caitlin's, and
it was sooo lovely. the ceremony was in the carmel mission. what a
setting! the reception was at the monterey plaza hotel, right on the
bay. perfect weather all around. it was just extraordinary. i cried so
much at the rehearsal that i was okay during the ceremony. caitlin is a
total sweetheart and i am so happy for her and her new hubby, ryan.
john and i stayed in a b and b, and i knew i wasn't far from melinda
and wished so much i could finally meet her, but she seems to have
disappeared. worrisome.
i used wheelchairs in the airports. image be damned.
hugs, all. i'll pop in when i can.

Welcome back. We're in our new area of Dayton, Ohio...looking for a
home now. Get some rest then come play.

Congratulations Diane! Sounds like a wonderful wedding. I am in the same
position Diane. My eldest was married yesterday and I am exhausted. At
least 13 for dinner everynight since Wednesday and even though they were
helping it was hectic. Last night after the afternoon wedding and luncheon
we had about 35 over for more food, booze and great talk. Ended the evening
with our youngest, his girlfriend and my husband sitting in the garden under
candle lights and stars talking until 12:30 this morning. I am beat but
happy.

(just in case anyone is interested. I was wearing the blue pants and shell
with the sheer jacket over top (can probably tell with the prednisone face.)
The little guy throughout the pictures is my 3 year old nephew. He almost
made it to the alter - he was ring bearer - but my brother ended up carrying
him and the pillow up instead. He did so well without 100 people watching
him. My mom made and designed the brides gown and I embroidered the silk
rose up the back. She and I did the bridesmaids dresses (who were fitted
several months ago and only arrived for the wedding the night before - of
course one looks the sh.ts) and she did the flower girls and my dresses and
again I did the embroidery. Most turned out well. One bridemaid did not
show up - still in India. Long story. It was lovely though.
Anyhow back to my corner. I have 70 in my garden for an afternoon 90th
birthday party for my mother in law in 2 weeks. Have to rest up and
prepare - again.

What a wonderful wedding, Kelly. Who ordered the perfect weather?
Your pictures sure tell the whole story. What kind of a dog is that?
I would love to have a place like that on the water. Your daughter
made a beautiful bride. Kind of unfair to stick her in the
mother-in-law seat! My mom said she and her friend used to ride in
the rumble seat. She is 88 years old.
The dresses are very lovely. My mother made my wedding dress and I
didn't see it until the Tuesday before a Friday wedding! Everybody
was teasing her that she would be pulling out basting stitches as I
went down the aisle. She wasn't.
Take a break, Kelly, and paddle around in the cool looking pool.

The weather was perfect. The dog was shaved down the day before the wedding
and everyone said he looked ugly but he was cool. He is my rescue dog -
part bearded collie, and normally has hair almost down to the ground and
looks huge. The place by the water is the restaurant and it is 2 doors down
from our house. Our house is one house up from the water but we have water
access. The spot was lovely. My daughter in law was very good natured
about the seat. There wasn't enough room for my goof of a son beside her!
Of course pictures were after the ride in the open so amazing they turned
out so well.
Sure wish the pool was mine. Could use it. That was my daughter in law's
grandparents place. They nicely had a pool party for the rehearsal dinner.
Roles were reversed on a lot of the traditional stuff.

I was looking at your wonderful slide show and suddenly there was this great big
mutt in my face. Sure got my attention, just in case I had been wandering, which
I hadn't. What a dog! :-)

Wow, Kelly. And what have you been up to in your spare time? LOL. What a
picture-perfect wedding, and such a beautiful bride. I get tired just
thinking about all the work that must have gone into it, but if the pictures
tell the story, it was well worth it. That little nephew of yours is just
TOO adorable. What a ham! Get some rest now, ok? After this, a birthday
party for 70 will be a piece of cake, right? Hehehehe...

My nephew was born the same month as Melissa's baby. He is 3 years old and
was a ham. You can tell the pictures were taken by his aunt and his grama!

Can we hope for a book soon set in that beautiful area? Surely you took
notes in between the other activities. :-)

Hi Diane! Welcome back! Glad to hear the wedding went so well and
that you enjoyed your time in CA. Good for you for taking good care of
yourself and using the wheelchairs at the airport---makes a world of
difference in your energy stores for the rest of your trip!
Wishing you and John the best as you both finish up on closing on your
old homes and then moving into your new home!!!
Both of you be as kind to yourselves as possible during all of this
stuff!
