Well, Bob is not a morning person so it was 11:30 AM Saturday morning
before we hit the road.  At 10:30 PM we checked into the hotel.  We
stopped every two hours and walked around, we crawled for several miles
on the Pennsylvania Turnpike where two or three cars all tried to
occupy the same space at the same time, and of course, we had lunch and
supper along the way.  So it was a lot longer than it really needed to
be.

This morning we did laundry then after lunch and a nap, we drove
through the Fairborn area.  That is just off the base of Wright
Patterson and we loved it! We found a 55+ mobile home park that is just
beautiful.  All the homes are double wide and landscaped.  Most have a
garage and all (including those with garages) have carports.  I think
we found a home.  There are six homes in this area for sale and I have
already emailed our agent to look into them for us and let us see the
insides.

Thanks for all the prayers that enabled us to have a safe and fairly
uneventful trip.

DeeTee, we lived in an adult mobile home park in Florida.  Our home was an
extra long double wide with more storage space than I have ever had in a
hand built home. We had a carport and a nice circular drive. However, I
decided while there and when Grayson got sick and I got sick, that I would
not recommend living in an adult park to anyone else.  Everyone there is
older and lots are sick; there's nobody to help out when you have problems
and need help.  I know it is nice at times not to have children around but
it's the parents of those children who are available to offer assistance.
We had wonderful neighbors, but they had as many problems as we did.   Just
for what it's worth!

We would not be dependent on the neighbors, but would call on church
members.  That's one thing about the LDS church...we help each other
whenever needed.  The church is organized in such a way that we could
have at least two people there within minutes if needed.

We're looking forward to the experience.

Good for you!!  I envy the trip. Ours will be much
further and if the two hours of open house time with
these two nuts is any indication -- at least one of
these animals will be meowing the entire trip. Thinking
of asking the vet for tranquilizers. For the cats...

We spent a week in a hotel room under forced flood evacuation with two small
dogs and a normally outside cat that didn't much like the dogs, being
indoors, being in a strange place, or the fact that all our nerves were
pretty much shredded.  The second day I went to a vets office to see about
getting something for the cat.  Vet wouldn't charge me for the office visit
or the meds or anything.  Poor cat just chilled for the rest of the week.

Our daughter and her husband and two small children didn't evacuate but
instead stayed in town and fed the emergency workers from the larder at the
restaurant where my daughter worked.  At least they were in a four story
house built for floods (before there was a levee) and we knew they were are
the top of the to be rescued list.  And everyone was fine.  Even the cat.

Will you be able to handle a mobile home?  Most of them have several
steps to climb to get into them and not alot of room to move around in
if you have to use a wheelchair of walker.  My bathroom was a buger
with the walker.  My door is too narrow.  My niece offered to widen it
but she wanted to use the chain saw so I declined.

Yahoooooo!!!   Glad you and Bob arrived safely DeeTee!

Wishing you both the very best in your new home!

Hugs!

ROFL!!!   Yep, I can see that this niece is definitely related to you
Sarah!  Her penchant for power tools and all!
