Either I'm coming down with something or my OA has decided to play silly
buggers today.  It has been slowly progressing for years but today - yikes!

My knees and knuckles are complaining loudly but, unusual for me, so are my
ankles, palms and oddly enough my neck.  I'm hoping I just strained it
somehow or slept funny cause I just don't feel up for neck problems.  Just
took a meloxicam and since it gets taken with food I had a bit of carrot
cake to cheer myself up and am heading of for some gentle yoga to relax my
muscles.

If damp weather affects some people's OA, can very humid weather bug OA too?
What do you think?

I really don't know, but I have been extra sore lately and the humidity has been
fierce here all summer. I have both RA and OA, so don't know what is going on.

Dear Skip,

Yes, humidity does effect my RA and OA.

Hope you feel better soon,

Vickie B.

Thanks Vickie, it is much cooler today and I do feel better.  Hope you are
doing well too

So let's see - in Canada it's either humid and warm or damp and cold.  I
guess that leaves me a couple days in the spring to feel good and do my
housework  (grin)

For me the cold weather is a bonus - I don't hurt.  OK, that's not
entirely true...I don't hurt in the cold weather until I slip on the
damned ice in the driveway and pull my groin muscles :)

Fall and spring are my best seasons, with winter being second best.

I used to love summertime, now I can't wait until it's over.  We ended
up buying a portable air conditioner this year just to make it bearable
in the house.  It was either pay more money to the gas companies and
spend the summer in the car, or pay Ottawa Hydro more money are be able
to stay in our house :)

I love winter.  Nothing beats a crisp sunny day with the snow crunching
underfoot, or curling up in front of a fireplace during a blizzard with a
mug of hot chocolate with peppermint schanpps and wondering if you will get
the day off work tomorrow.

Trust me, if I'm only gonna have a few days to feel good, I ain't gonna be
doing housework.

Which is part of why this place is such a mess.  If I feel good enough to
clean it, I feel good enough to leave.

No a/c at my place!  It's cooler today so fewer aches and I slept a bit
better last night.
Lucky me - headaches from weather changes and aches from weather changes
lol!

FWIW: Both Elaine and I are creaking noticably more than
typical, and my keyboard just won't get it's act together at
all! This in the North-UK. Its clearly a weather thing.

((((((((((Skip)))))))))))  I don't have much OA, but I do feel worse in very
humid weather - dragged out and achy all over.  Rather embarrassing as a
Florida native who grew up w/o a/c, but I just cannot take humidity these
days.

Thanks Nann, It's good to know it's not just me, although this humidity
reaction does force me admit I ache in more places than last year.  Such is
life :-)

My OA, FMS, and Psuedogout all sing loud and clear in the hot humid air...

I'm not familiar with Psuedogout - is it much like gout? I've hear that can
be annoying

The symptoms are the same...But The cause is different.
Gout...Too much Uric Acid, controlled with diet...
Psuedogout....calcium calcification in the fluid around the
joints..Reason...Nobody knows...Has nothing to do with your diet...
Silly isn't it....The joints that usually bother me is my knees(as if I
needed anything else but bone on bone OA there)
My elbows and sometimes my hands...

Skip, I've just proven your theory and question about humidity affecting OA
& FM.  I'm in a major flare, brought about by a week's 90+ heat and probably
100% humidity.  Yep, I'm convinced.  Nanny

That's high humidity - sounds like being in a tropical jungle lol!  I hope
it eases up for you very soon.

It is cooler today and much less humid.  I woke up feeling less achy but
lots of morning stiffness (I'm sure there's a rude joke in there somewhere!)
so that's something.

The weather should hold for this Civic Holiday weekend so I hope to take
advantage of it and be outside in the nice weather while I can.

Best wishes,
Skip
