That's where I've been for the last few weeks.  Mostly the Grand Canyon.
Here are but a few of the hundreds of images I took.

I do hope you're all doing reasonably well.  :-)

great shots - takes me back to our trip in the summer of '91, when we camped
on the north rim.  Heh, arrived on my birthday in mid-June and had lows in
the 20s overnight!  beautiful country.

It was my very first trip to the canyon.  And, it was a business trip.
Two week Grand Canyon business trip.  Not bad.

I think that the overnight of 20 degrees must have been a bit rough.
Last week, it actually got as low as 50ish.  But, oh migod, the days
were hot.  Hot, hot, HOT.  The business trip was actually two weeks of
National Park Service training in a classroom with no AC.  Excrutiating,
given that the southwest was experiencing record heat.  It was tough.

But the trips out to the rim were fabulous.  I even did a helicopter
tour for the fabulously low price of $16.00.  the "H" in the captions
indicates that the shot was from the helicopter.  I was willing to go
up, but the only way I was going down to the river was on a mule.  :-)

I'll bet you were on the south rim, the more popular and more crowded side.
Also, much hotter and drier.  Mike had been there before and as I hadn't been
to the Grand Canyon at all, I was happy to go to either rim.  The north rim
is a couple thousand feet higher up and therefore much cooler than the south
rim.  It's also damper, with lots of trees, mostly evergreens.  A different
microclimate from the south rim, for sure.  If you ever get a chance, go
again and check out the north rim.  It's an amazing difference.

we heard from a ranger there (this was in the summer of 91, BTW) that
Sylvester Stallone insisted that he was tough enough and strong enough to
hike down and back up and refused a mule.  He ended up paying their hundreds
of dollars fee to be helicoptered out, rather than climb back up.  Heh,
proves once again that you are smarter than he is!

Gorgeous pictures!  Have you ever put these into a slide show with
music?  I love using proshow gold.  It is a bit crashy but it does
amazing effects and is simple to use.    It is a fun way to show off
your pictures.  -- MZ
