DeeTee - 22 Jul 2005 22:03 GMT Well, we FINALLY got to the settlement table. The only nasty surprise was from our own "agent" who had said one thing and done another and it cost us $9,100.00! Rather than start everything all over again, we bit the bullet, closed and closed our connection with that man. Grrrrrrr!!
On a lighter note, I am typing this from my very own computer! We got a Gateway laptop. If I have to, I will list all the particulars on it. Suffice it to say for now that it works and does the job quite well. I love it. We even got some goodies to go with it like a wireless mouse, a special lock, etc. Sometime I may list everything it can do...but not right now.
One more week and we head to Ohio. Go west, Taggart's, go west!

When my parents were selling their house to move into an assisted living place, "their" agent informed the prospective buyer that Daddy was ill and they were anxious to close. So buyer reduced their previous offer or threatened to back out. It cost them close to $10000.
For a long time I hoped the darned house would slide down the hill it was on. When we went back to see things when my mom died, there were new, very nice owners who had made some lovely changes to the house. It felt so good to feel good about who was living there again.

Newsgroup Spambuster - 22 Jul 2005 23:38 GMT DeeTee and Bob........so glad you finally were able to close, even if you ran into costly problems. At least you are done and out from under that responsibility! Praying you find something quickly in Ohio that you absolutely love and that is well within your means. May your travels to Ohio be safe, blessed, and filled with great excitement and anticipation!!!
Congrats also on the new computer....how very fun!

DeeTee - 25 Jul 2005 03:00 GMT Thank you, Sweetie. You've been on my mind a lot lately. Hope all's well at your end of the universe.

Navy1 - 23 Jul 2005 13:43 GMT Hey, Dee Tee, don't you just love your wireless mouse? So, you got a computer with all the bells and whistles, as my son used to say. He also advised me to get everything I wanted to begin with and make sure it was upgradeable by generic components and boards. A laptop, too? Wow, now you can lie back in that recliner and type away. I think he felt guilty that we bought him a new car that is a tiny replacement for my nice Taurus. I keep telling him we'll get another Taurus in Ohio, but he just says that I gave up my car for him and that the computer is for me. Who am I to argue? <DeeTee grins wickedly> So the computer is mine.

Nearly every state has a governing board for real estate agents, I urge you to report this to the board. Many people walk away and think they never have to see the guy/gal again, but he/she is more than likely going to do this to another unsuspecting client. No wonder so many people cringe when they hear the words "real estate agent," they, or someone they know, have been burned by one of the "crooks" out there.
I'll get off of my soapbox now.
I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope your trip west goes smoothly!
Take care. Bonnie

DeeTee - 25 Jul 2005 03:04 GMT He swore to us the larger commission percentage was to be shared by both parties. It made sense to us...why would we pay for the buyers' agent? However, on the settlement papers it was in black and white that we were paying the entire commission and he was genuinely shocked that he had 'given us the idea' it was to be otherwise. We searched all the papers he had given us but, of course, he had not put that in writing.
It's over and done with now but will always leave a nasty taste in my mouth about him.

Harvey R. Stone - 25 Jul 2005 03:34 GMT > It's over and done with now but will always leave a nasty taste in my > mouth about him. > > DeeTee People have made fortunes leaving a bad taste in the mouths of everyone they have dealt with. They count on us not asking,,,, and that is in writing???,,,, show me. I am glad you got a new computer. My wife's computer is a year old and I was amazed how long a Norton virus search took and it has a 1.3 gig hard drive. Memory,,,, not enough memory. Sooo I go down to the computer store to buy memory. I wanted a 256 chip but they only had a 128 or a 512. Sooo I got the 512 and she already had 256 which makes 768 which is more than my computer.... Most peoples computers.... It really did speed her computer up though. Harv
DeeTee - 26 Jul 2005 16:29 GMT This one has 512. I love it.

DeeTee - 29 Jul 2005 13:03 GMT We moved into the hotel on July 14th because closing was supposed to be the 15th. We didn't close until the 21st. On the other hand, our friends closed on the original date. It all depends on so many factors - paperwork, financing, etc. Each case is different. Good luck, sweetie!
Duckie - 31 Jul 2005 02:36 GMT Thanks -- looks like this is going to fall apart but we have learned a lot in the process. Duckie
