I went to a friend's party up in the mountains this weekend. Had to climb a
lot of steps, carrying boxes, etc, etc..... first time I ever realized I
need the placard. I've always said there was nothing wrong w/me, yadda
yadda...
I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Get the placard. You may not always need to use it, but when you do, you
do. I just traded my red one (temporary) in for a blue one (permanent).
I always use it at the supermarket as I'm so tired after food shopping
and without it, I can't even think about going to Walmart as their
parking lot is HUGE.

Its a tough thing to admit to yourself. I knew when I went to the grocery
store after work one day, and then turned around and went home without going
inside. Just plain couldn't do it.

My folks originally got one for my dad. My mom found it to be such a help
for her with her problems that once his expired after his death, she got her
own. Being able to use it when needed thanks to Daddy made it easy for her
to accept it for herself. She doesn't always use it, but it's a blessing
when she needs it. I enjoy it, too, when visiting - though where we live
now, parking is rarely an issue.

Nichole,
Go ahead and get a parking pemit. You don't have to use it if you
don't feel you need it but it will sure come in handy when you do.
It's hard to realize we need one but I'm glad I've got mine.

Yeah and it makes what little Xmas shopping I do not do
online so much easier.
Now if I have to go to the mall, I drive over and look
for a handicap space. If there are none, I just go
home. The pain of first walking the lot and then
walking the mall is not worth it. How do those people
who walk the mall every morning for exercise do that. I
can't fathom it and have felt that way since my 30's.

Advantages of mall walking. Its done early so there is plenty of parking
near the door. It is climate controlled. It can be social. Help available
if you have problems, such as a fall. Many places offer blood pressure
screening etc. Safer than streets or trails.
And counter productive. Often there are things like coffee and donut shops
open early.

Yes, get the Parking Permit. Although I put off getting it for a long
time, I couldn't imagine life without it now.
Duckie, I'm with you on the mall walkers. When I do go to the mall I
park outside a big store, go in, come out and ride around to the next
store entrance. Haven't been able to walk the full length in several
years.
My neighbor walks every morning since his open heart surgery. He has a
whole group of new friends he met there.
