Since my RA has come under a good degree of control with Enbrel - like
CRP down to 3 - my knees hurt a bit more  and my shoulders sometimes
give me hell at night. I think maybe the pain in these joints is worse
than sometimes when my RA was active. My rheumatolgist gives the
(credible) explanation that - when you have had RA for sometime your
joints can get seriously eroded. While the RA is active you have some
swelling and fluid in these joints which acts as a buffer = less pain.
When the RA is controlled the swelling diminishes and the amount of
fluid also drops so you are left with what are osteoarthritic joints
which hurt more.

Comments and observations welcome.

In which case my comment would to have an observation! Has your rd
backed up his explanation by  [current - ie crp 3 type] x rays of said
joints? They should show the said so called oa joint.
