Numbness

Hi all...

A couple of months ago I lost feeling in one big toe.  It is still numb.
Docs couldn't find a problem.  Now, for the second time in three weeks, I've
temporarily lost feeling in both my thumbs.  About a month ago I couldn't
feel my whole left forearm, but attributed that to a spider bite... now not
so sure.  Any thoughts?  I've been exercising more than usual (and still
chasing a two-year-old around the house).  All my bloodwork looks good,
except my usual low i**n levels.  Stress levels are high, but that is
nothing too out of the usual either.  I will need to go get it checked
again, but if the doc still can't find anything then where do I start to
look?

Any ideas welcome... thanx,

Janet N.

hmmm . . . any pain or other sensations going on, that's a bit different
than usual?  it sounds a little like nerve compression, but then i'm going
by my own experiences, not a vast database of knowledge here.   but i'll ask
anyway--how's your cervical spine?  and your lower lumbar spine?

Cervical spine is fine, other that being in need of a good massage.  Lumbar
spine, AFAIK, is fine also, although it is a fusion site from long ago and
currently have OA in the region.  Pain with the numbness is rare, though
last night was bad.  I got swelling in my feet and major pain in the toe.
It was similar to the pain I got in my toes when I was getting the feeling
back after breaking the (other) ankle, except this time the feeling didn't
come back.  Strange...

Janet N,

don't have any suggestions to help you but wanted you to know I read this.
Thinking of you and hoping you get some answers to what is going on with
this.

By the way, Stop soaking your toes and thumbs in alcohol. I have heard that
will numb the whole body. ;-)  ROFLMAO. I hope that at least gave you a
laugh.

Love and hugs to all
Good thoughts coming your way too.

Hi Janet,

Have you seen a neurologist?

Bonnie is right...see a neurologist.  Nerve conduction studies etc are
probably in order to see what's going on.
