Accuweather says it's 97º (36.1 C) with 7% humidity, but my
thermometer outside (in the shade) says 102º (38.8 C), and it's been
100º (37.7 C) plus every day for the past week.  The only "good" thing
is the low humidity.

It's 80º F in my kitchen and 70% humidity, with the airconditioner
running. I checked the max function on my thermometer when I got home
from work, and the *indoor* humidity had been up to 80%.

Same here, in Ontario. Temperature in the low 30s C. and humidex is in the 40s.
Thank goodness we have central air. It is good for growing tomatoes, though. :-)

But the delta breeze is just starting and its cooled off.  We had 106 two

Weather Underground says 95 degrees F. (35 C.) for Salem with 25%
humidity. Dew point 54 degrees F.

I say it's too damn hot!

Sorry for the language, Gwen, but I really mean it. We don't have
central air and the swamp cooler just can't cut these hot days.

It's miserable here in southern New England.  Temp is in the nineties
but humidity is 74.  There is no breeze even on the beach.  This is one
of those few days a summer that I wish I did have AC.

The AC in the car felt wonderful when I was out this morning.  Maybe I
should just take out a loan to buy gas and then ride around all day?

yeah, we actually manage to cool most of our upstairs with one window unit.
Don't know its BTUs as it was left here for us by the former resident.  We
have to keep the south facing blinds closed, but with our fans on it cools
the place enough and really gets out the humidity.  Not sure we would have
tried it if we hadn't had this free unit sitting here.  I am so grateful for
it!

I have an old clunker down in the basement that I would be afraid to put
in a window after all these years and I do have one in my upstairs
bedroom.  Unfortunately it is sitting on a table under the window....not
in the window.  Every time somebody physically able is here to do it I
think "why bother" for the few hot days we have.  Actually I live one
lot away from an inlet (Bay) and if there is a breeze I will get it.  I
have three windows in the bedroom upstairs and it's been pretty
comfortable at night.  It gets damp and foggy around midnight.  Really,
I shouldn't be complaining after seeing the temps around the country.

Dew point here is in the 70's with humidity in the 90's
and the temp relatively 'low' at 77. That is because
the sun was not shining all day. Tomorrow we get to
keep all that high dew point and humidity AND sun so
the temp will be about 93.
When we first moved here in the 70's we got maybe three
days in a row then a break and maybe another three for
the entire summer. Now it is nothing but heat and
humidity. And all you wimps in Portland thought it was
humid there.  bwhaaaaa

I'm just on the other side of Magic Mtn.  You?
Sorry for not remembering.
We usually don't have so much humidity but we're paying for having a decent
spring.  It didn't really get hot until June and it hasn't cooled off since.
It's midnight right now and still 94*.
My best friend used to live in Lancaster right outside of the Mojave
Desert... and while killer hot during the day, once the sun went down, the
heat was gone.  I could handle the additional temp during the day since the
wind is always blowing and the moment the sun goes down, it cools off.
Even up in the Tehachapi's Saturday, it was 95*.  In the 90s all week.
Thank God for a/c.  electric company loves me.

Here, north texas, the summer norm is usually around 85 - 98 F with
occasional leaps up into the 100 - 103 F:
It will be 96 this afternoon.
Not usually humid though.  Personally I like it, as long as I'm not
expected to do any manual labor or anything similarly frightful .
After a lifetime of
the british    climate, it makes a nice change.

Has this been an unusual summer for most of you as far as temperatures
go?

We had about 15 days in june alone that were in the 90's.   Usually we
don't have more than 5-6 for the whole summer.   They said on the news
last night that this is the hottest summer we have had in the last 70-80
years.   The humidity has also stayed consistanty at 90-100% for the
entire summer which is also unusual not to have an occassional break.

what really sucks up here is that it has been hot and numid, but it isn't
raining in Hillman!  It rains all around us, but it's like there's this 20
mile diameter circle around town that's keeping the rain away.  It's a pain
when it storms over where our electricity comes from and knocks it out, but
we're still sweltering in heat and humidity.  Menawhile, we're complaining
about hte humidity at the same time the unripe apples are falling from our
tree because the ground is so dry!  I feel for the area farmers.

well, Monday was mid-high 90s, with high humidity after a 5 am storm.  Then
the winds shifted about 3 pm and it became cooler and much drier.  High about
75 yesterday.  Back to the low 90s today, predicting upper 70s again
tomorrow.  It's been a real roller-coaster summer here, so you never quite
adjust to the heat!

Hot and humid.  In the 90's with 70% to 80% humidity at the worst part
of the day.  Of course, that is quite normal here in South Carolina.
