Well hello...

I am suffering of the  "what now" disease...sigh...
About 2 months ago I overnight I developed a thing that looks like
eczema, when going into the sun.
Just 5 minutes would be enough, it was all over my chest, back and belly.
Thick, red and very itchy. It would go away in about 3 days out of the
sun. So I started using sunscreen 40+ and wearing long sleeves and such
and avoiding being in the sun.
I didn't know what caused it so I ran through meds' directions again.
The only med I could think of was the Fosomax, so I quit that, after
all, I am slowly coming of Prednisolon (drs orders) and am on just 2,5
mg per day now, I am doing a lot of excercise so that should keep up
bonedensity for the time being.

Purchased some homeo med called Urtizon which should help with any kind
of sun allergy.
It seemed to get lots better.

Then, because I am down to 2.5 Pred, I had to take my Enbrel injections
a bit more frequently, instead of every 4th day (which went fine with 5
mg pred per day), I now follow instructions litteraly and inject twice a
week, on saturday and once on wednesday.
So this means once every 4th day and once every 3rd day.
That was fine for about two and a half weeks.

Then, overnight this itching starts, first thought it was just a couple
of musquito-bites, because it looked just like it, but then I woke up
about 2 days ago, and it's all over my shoulders and shoulderblades,
once side of my face and my arms/hands and it itches like hell, it looks
like musquito bites and itches just like it.
When I look in the mirror I feel like a leper and the itching is driving
me crazy.

Could this be from taking the Enbrel a bit more frequently??
I've had to do this before, about 3 years ago, and experienced some
side-effects too, but they looked totally different.

Ofcourse I am going to see my rd about this is 2 weeks time, but would
just like to know if anyone feels this could be the Enbrel?
I am thinking about switching to a once a week dose, but I would be
doing that by combining to doses of 25mg, instead of using the 50mg
syringe (explained in other thread why).

Thanks,

Nikki

Thank you Lou Jean,

been to gp and she told me she didn't know what it was and adviced me to
go see rd. Funny thing is, my rd made an appointment for a phonecall
with me but I cancelled that, I think he really has to take a look at
this and decide if I should see a dermatologist. So made an appointment
for 2nd august. GP did give me allergy pills but so far I'm not sure
wether they help or if this allergylike things are fading by themselves
as I'm off Enbrel for the next couple of weeks.
I surfed the internet to find a bit of information, and so far and have
found a site with photos (spicy ;-)) and I think it could be erythema
mutliforme. It looks much alike, and can also be atopic, meaning from
using meds, and in this case I'm 99% positive it's from upping Enbrel to
2 doses weekly. Until a month ago I had this eczema like looking rash
when going into the sun, and that looked just like the atopic eczema in
the photos on the site.

So that's why I'm pretty sure it's the Enbrel.
I quit other meds to find out.
Thought the itching is much less, it still isn't a very pretty site and
I am feeling very very tired, partly because of the allergymeds I guess.
No allergy no energy ;-)
