Ok I am willing to put together a gimpfest slide show.  I have Jo,
Duckie and my photos.  I usually do these synch'd with music, I would
probably do a friendship theme on the music.  My software can do some
fancy shows with movement  (panning and zooming in and out, fancy
transitions with moving captions) but you need a fairly powerful
computer 1 ghz or above.   I can do a simpler show with music and no
fancy transitions or movement.

I could do 2 shows 1 plain and 1 more fancy with movement etc. If you
are interested e-mail me and let me know your computer processor speed
and fancy or plain. Also if you have any music preferences, I can't
make several sound tracks but i am open to suggestions.  I can pick
most songs out of I-tunes so it is easy and inexpensive to find the
songs.   I merge the songs into one file so synching the show is
easier.  This is a hobby of mine so I don't mine doing it.   Also
Kelly I know you took pictures if you can send me or post the photos
on the web I will incorporate them. If you have a choice, full screen
size would be best 1024x768 pixels.  The program will down size them
to computer screen size so not to worry if they are larger. Jo,  your
photos are fine no need to fuss.  Lower than 1024x768 pixels is harder
to deal with.  So let me know and I will try and accommodate your
preferences and if there is no interest that is fine also.  Also if
you e-mail me be sure you send your mailing address.

If you right click on My Computer then click on  properties  it should
give you the speed of your processor look at the general tab.
Obviously this is for PC machines not mac.

well, i feel bad.  shortly after i arrived home from portland, i was in the
process of trying to send my digitals from floppy to either kim or kelly,
when i accidentally reformatted the disk, thinking i was reformatting to
email mode.  sigh . . . one disk of excellent close up shots, shot.  so, i
can only enjoy what others preserved.

Easiest way to get them on your computer is to buy a card reader.  If
you have xp the driver is likely built in  so all you have to do is
plug in the card reader put in the card and the computer should take
care of the rest.  It is much easier than hooking up your camera. Card
readers aren't very expensive.  Just make sure you know which type of
card you have in your camera, if in doubt take the card with you.

LOL... I've been tired, I think.  Just got back from a LONG drive with an
active toddler (14 hours).

I didn't have the camera yet then... I took the pics on my camera phone.  I
think I either have to buy a cord or email them one at a time.  Yuk.

i'm not a techie, either.  i hadn't used my digital camera since the ohio
gimp picnic.  ordinarily, i just have to pop the floppy from the camera into
my floppy disk drive to access the pictures on the floppy or to attach them.
i couldn't seem to attach or access any pix from the floppy no matter what i
did.  soooo, i had a brain fart that thought i forgot to make certain the
pictures were formatted for email in the camera and i tried to correct that.
that's how i wound up reformatting the disk itself and losing my gimpfest
pix.  arrrrghhhh . . .

yesterday, i wound up with the same difficulty in trying to attach pictures
of my grandson, in an email for my grandson's mother.  i had successfully
sent one picture the day before, off the same floppy.  so i realized that
the problem wasn't the camera's settings or the floppy with pictures on it.

it was my computer's floppy disk drive lying to me.  my drive kept telling
me that the disk was not properly formatted, no matter which program i used
to access the pictures.   but i didn't believe the lie this time, cuz i knew
it was and that i had already accessed the pictures on that floppy once.
after repeated attempts and restarting the computer several times, it
finally stopped lying to me and allowed me to attach the pictures.  i guess
it realized i wasn't buying into the lie this time, no matter how many times
it lied to me.
