i know i've asked questions about this ad nauseum, but we're finally
ready to make a decision. which do you guys recommend? so we need a box
spring with the comfortaire? i know you need the special foundation for
the sleep number. i have the sleep number in queen, but we want a king.

I was thinking about you and this the other day. Do you
have the special foundation on your queen now? If not
was thinking that might be the cause of your roll to
the middle. Did you ask the company about the roll issue?

hi duckie,
yes, i have the foundation. i've taken everything apart and put it back
together. we roll. that's all there is to it. and i'm sick of trying to
squish myself onto my little mattress between the foam so i don't spill
onto john's side. thus the move up to a king. the online reviews of the
S.C. and the comfortaire are all over the place. love it/hate it. that
sort of thing.

I still think you need to call the company. I would be
interested to hear if they know what the problem is as
it has never been an issue with ours. Something sounds
like it is definitely wrong.
What is the comfortaire made of - foam? If so, it will
smell. The pillow I use is that temperpedic and the
first month is smells terribly. I cover it with three
pillow cases in the beginning and tuck a wash cloth
with my perfume inside one of the cases. Not sure how
you would handle a whole mattress giving off that
smell. Doubt I could sleep on it for several months...
Good luck with your decision.

We have the comfortaire.  And love it.  It has to be on a firm flat surface
that brings it up to the height you wish.

Ours is in a "box" similar to what they used to use for waterbeds on top of
a set of drawers on each side.  Then we each have a drawer cabinet set on
our sides of the bed, connected by a pier light and mirror.

I'd guess you could use any box spring.  I seem to recall that they sell
box spring type platforms for the air beds and I think covers you can put
over a regular box spring so they would match.

thanks jo. a lot of people online complain about the smell of the beds
at first. do you remember that being a problem?

Not really, but then we always had water beds in the past so maybe that was
just something I expected and didn't notice.

diane--

why don't you ask if they have a money-back  trial period?   then, if you
don't like it, you can send the one that displeases you back and try the
other brand.

i wouldn't buy any bed and/or mattress unless i get to try it for 30 days or
more without having to committ to it.

I don't know anything about the comfortaire, but I can't say enough great
things about the select comfort. We have a king 5000 and love it. I set mine
at 30 and sink in at night. Most people can't believe someone with arthritis
would like something so soft and hammocky but I love it. Really helps my
joints. Of course, if you already have one, you know whether or not you like
it...just thought I'd give my two cents...

maybe the king S.C. would be best. duckie, is yours a king? i  know i
have to have an air mattress. even with the problems i've had with the
select comfort, i 've loved that cushy sinky softness.

No it is a queen and really really old. lol  So that is
why I am questioning why your foam is not working.
Cause I have to fully inflate both sides of the bed
before an open house so the foam sticking up in the
middle doesn't show.
I would still call the company. They can't fix it for
the next guy if they don't know you have a problem.

I have a select comfort (sleep number) bed and recently my husband (who
sleeps in a separate room) bought a latex foam mattress by Restonex.
Not sure if the spelling is right. I'm replacing my bed as soon as we
can afford it!  It's the only bed I've been able to sleep in since I
fractured my spine. I still sleep in a recliner otherwise!  It's
supposed to resist dust mites etc and never needs to be flipped. I love
it as does he.  Diane W

Ok - forget that name. It's called naturalsleeper. The Model name is
"Allure" and it's 100% latex foam. Doesn't smell. Comes with it's own
foundation. Actually he got the adjustable version. It may be
distributed by Restonwhatever.  DianeW

restonic is the brand name it is made under. I think it might go by
many different brand names.  Di
Diane - 13 Jul 2005 04:18 GMT
diane w., thanks for this info on restonic. the price is certainly
better than the air beds.  i might take a look at them, but the only
time i slept on a foam bed, i nearly died of heatstroke. do you not get
hot on it? (sounds funny . . .)  also, aren't they really heavy? one
thing i love about the select comfort is the ease with which i can make
the bed.

duckie, you are right that i should call S.C. and tell them my problem.

ps sorry i am so grouchy lately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this house selling $%*^ is getting to me.

Did I tell you cut down the 50 year old tree in front
of the house yesterday. For all those that said it was
dark and we can't see the house. Well, you can now!!
