Looks like Dennis the menace is schedule to visit the Florida
Panhandle and surrounding area.  Hope everyone is safe and will be
safe as the storm moves inland.  Good luck thoughts and prayers are
with you especially after the hurricane season you had last year and
on the heels of Ivan this is tough luck. -- MZ

I've been following hurricane Dennis on the news.  Last time Florida had a
hurricane this bad my in-laws were fortunate not to lose their
sailboat/home.  They were were drydocked inland and were lucky to have only
interior water damage, once they manged to hoist it veritical again.  Some
of the marinas on the coast were destoyed.  Ever since then those southern
hurricanes have felt personal and I hope all the asfers in the storm path
will eventually check in safely.

Prayers from the North.

Sending good wishes to those in the North <g> in the path of Dennis.
:-( The hearts of those who have BTDT are with you thru this!

Hugs from Hurricane Rosie

I'm not in Florida, but we're expecting some pretty strong winds in Alabama
also.  I
hope Montgomery is enough inland that it won't be too bad here.  I still
have damage in my enclosed patio from Ivan (used the insurance money to have
new privacy fence put up).

From a friend in FidoNet..............

Homestead, Florida
7/9/2005 2:32 PM - Dennis

I guess the weather bureau wants to make sure I know what's
going on outside:  Thursday I received 11 alerts, yesterday
15 and so far today 11. Although many places in Miami-Dade
& Broward have lost power, we are fine. Last evening during
some of the feeder bands we had sporadic flickering. The UPS
kept putting a "Power restored" signal up on the monitor.

Of course, I had a canine critter Velcroed to my side through-
out the evening: the thunder and wind really got to her. I got
my mail and did a tour of the Village a bit ago. I saw no
damage - less than a severe summer thunder-storm would cause.
This felt about the same, except a long series of storms as
the bands went through. From TV I see there is some flooding
and trees down - probably from promised tornadoes in the
weather advisories I kept getting. I was watching a thriller
movie and I was worried I wasn't going to see the end, but I
did. I got fed up with the "news" when I saw the same board
fly by the same tree in Key West for the 3rd time. And it's
still going on this morning. A measure of how serious things
are: very serious = no commercials. We were still getting
commercials, though for a while last night they were far
apart.

I just checked to see if they had any 3pm advisory. Three of
the four network stations are in regular programming. The 4th,
the one that was first with continuous coverage yesterday, is
still rehashing. Now it's watching surfers:  the waves are
"Totally rad, dude!"

... Volcano -- a mountain with hiccups.

Hoping all our friends fare fine....And are safe...
But in Oklahoma when we have severe weather going on....On all 3 of our
local channels, all you get is a continous weather broadcast...NO
Commercials...But that is good....Because 6 years ago we had the first F6
tornado hit our town and through the rest of the OKC Metro....
And only 46 people were killed...That was a blessing if you could see the
destruction that was caused....Moore(where I am from) was hit the
hardest...But I digress...I was just saying that all those weather
reports....Saved lives...
Hugs Cindy
