I'm trying an experiment that should not be regarded as of
any value whatsoever except for that of interest or
amusement.
I've decided to stop taking the Arthrotec.
Big deal huh? ;)
Ok, here's how my experiment should work...
I've been using a regular intake of Glucosomine each morning
for a while now, along with my Arthrotec at night, and a
few top-up painkillers here and there like Paracetamol.
Removing just one med from this regime should in theory
produce a negative result, however...
I've got this idea that sometimes the "cover" a med can
provide may just encourage the body into possibly more
harmful results. Amongst my "creaks'n'tweaks" I have a
permanently twisted ankle that makes resting with any weight
on it (like a duvet) almost impossible. The Arthrotex plus
Paracetamol has been my standard method of reducing the
results of this problem, BUT, may have been encouraging my
body to allow more pain (and possibly continued aggravation
of it) to build before making me move while sleeping.
You can see where I'm going here...
IF I allow my body's natural discomfort to move me, I SHOULD
find that I develop new sleeping "practices" (!?!) that
avoid the original pressure on my injury, and end up with at
least only the same "problem" while sleeping, the "tweak"
that moves me, but at an earlier pre-aggravation stage.
AND!
If the whole thing works out as desired (note, not "as
expected") I should be able to work on diet/other solutions
to my arthritic problems and know I can still get some rest
while I do so.
Watch this space...
P.S. I won't be crossing my fingers here, for reasons many
will understand. :(

LOL! i have to laugh ,cuz i tried the same thing several years ago, mike.
my body's natural discomfort did, indeed, cause me to have new sleeping
practices and move more naturally---all over the bed and every few seconds.
sparse natural sleep was to be had, with my version of this experiment. i
do so hope you have better luck with your experiment, mike.

And you developed this masochistic tendency when? In my not so humble
opinion....better you than me, Mikey! :-(

Re: replies.
I'm getting the feeling I'm walking a well worn path here. :(
I'm kind of hoping that because my "tweaks'n'twinges" are
nothing compared to say Elaine's very real disability, and
because I've got everything else stable, I'll be able to
gain some understanding of the "phenomenon" I'm messing
with.
The "luxury" of only suffering a relatively mild
"inconvenience" with my arthritic degredation should (in
that theory) allow me to at least work within a "shallow
curve" of results.
I have the uncomfortable feeling there are heads nodding and
expressions of "here we go again" appearing.
I'll let you know... 8\

heehee, well, yeah........ been there, done that. Last time was when I
started Enbrel and was certain it would allow me to really cut back on my
fibro meds. Wrong! We all have times when we just need to know.
Let us know how you do.

[SNIP]
And the first lesson is...
I've discovered an injury I didn't know I had.
What I'd thought was a problem with my neck seems to be
linked to a problem somewhere within my shoulderblade area.
This appears to be a direct result of my mattress, which,
apparently not so co-incidentaly, I bought about the time I
started having a problem with my neck some years ago.
So, a new bed is next on my "I saved this by missing meals"
shopping list.
Is this a result? ;\
P.S.
I'm coping, so the experiment continues for the mo...
