Dear Folks,

I've been missing here since aol dropped the group.  I changed carriers
and had to find my way back here!  I've really missed you dear folks.

My RA is primarily in my jaw and breastbone right now.  I'm still
taking Bextra (since I received a refill just prior to it being removed
and not having a problem with it.)  My FMS is just plain buzzy.  In
May, I went on a medroll pack (?spelling) for a painful right side!
Now on to the good stuff!

My eldest son graduated high school in May!  He has registered for
college and goes next month!  I don't think that I can do that!

My second son (actually a twin) has another year for high school and
plans to take the following year for general employment before deciding
anything else.  He needs a little more time.  Good for him!

My dear daughter is still drawing, painting, carving, etc.  She is
entering the tenth grade and doing very well in school but her art is
where she excells.

Can't leave dear hubby out...He has no complaints for the moment.  But
is working hard.

We went on vacation in May to northern California.  While there we
broke down on the Manton Road in Shingleton.  If you know this road,
the idea is rural.  We had to hike back uphill during the hottest part
of the day.  That really made me feel old.  I wonder how many folks
have this type of experience...  Yes, I think even a healthy person
would have found it to be a dreadful hike!

That makes me just about current!

It's good to be back!

welcome back, vickie!  i've missed you around here.  sounds like your family
is doing well.  glad to hear it.  wish your ra affected jaw and breastbone
and your fms were doing as well.

boy, my gut reaction to your manton road hike was profound.  i think my body
just told me that's one of my greatest fears.LOL  i'm glad you successfully
managed to accomplish it, but sorry you had to.

Thanks for the update Vickie.   I know its hard but these are the good times
with your kids and when you turn around twice they are going to be gone and
on their own.   Its all about the sound of silence then.

Welcome Back, Vickie! You are one of the many who have been missed lately.

I do not envy you that hike...it sounds miserable! Great news about your
family, but sorry about the RA problems. I'm just mostly glad you made
your way back here.

Welcome home. Now if we could just get the others to
find different carriers. And kiss aol's tussie goodbye
for good then we would be back up to speed.

Glad to hear from you Vickie. Think of you alot. Glad you were able to get
back to the group. I hope the medrol pack works for you.
good to hear about your children also. I bet you are so proud of them.

I wish I would have known you were out here in Calif. Maybe we could have
met up with each other.

You take care and know you are being thought of.

Sounds like you have your hands full.  I, too, was on Bextra and used
it all up.  Went to Celebrex, ehhh, not real pleased with it - still
got twinges in knuckles.  So she switched me to Arthrotec.  It seems
to be doing much better.  At least I don't seem to have the twinges
that made me want to stick my knuckle in my mouth!

Your children seem to be such a blessing.  My first child that left
home was the middle one who decided he and a friend would share a
house at the ripe old age of 16!  Since the friend's father was
handling the rental and would keep an eye on the boys, we said
"Why not?  Let him get a dose of the outside world."  He moved back in
three months - too expensive out there, he said!  I found I could get
along without him.  Of course, I did have his younger brother who had
been hyperactive and got asthma from eggs.  Now, he kept me busy.
I think the oldest boy had left for the Army.  You'll make it, fine.
What is he going to take in college?  I would be awfully proud of the
son who has decided to work a year and think things out.  So many
children don't do and just plunge into college or the work field
without forethought of what they want to do.  I wished I had had a
daughter, but I wouldn't change any of my daughters-in-law for one,
now.
Blessings on you and hope your medicine works for you.  My husband
died 11 years ago in September.  The three boys were old enough and
doing well enough in the outside world so that I was ok.  My oldest
son, now back in civilian life, moved back in with me, bringing his
adorable dog (now mine!).  The year he moved to Myrtle Beach, my dad
died in January and my mom moved in with us until George graduated
from college and accepted the job there with the police department.
He got married the following August.  Mom is still with me and so I've
never been alone except when she's gone to visit my sisters, one in
Michigan and one in Conn.  Well, the dog's hinting it is supper time,
so will quite blabbing.  Enjoy your children while they're home.  If
it hadn't been for the ease of email, I doubt I would hear much from
either of the two boys that now live out of town.

Loujean,  my son who is college bound is going to study agriculture.
He is terrifically focused on this right now otherwise I'd be having
second thoughts as well.

I did fail to mention that all three furr faces are doing well and love
to chase each other.  I have two cats and one dog - all very spoiled!

Thanks,

Vickie B.

It's hard to turn them loose, but we have to.  Even though mine are
all in their 30's, I still finding myself wanting to manage rather
than advise - and that only when asked.

My fur face is doing fine - we had a tremendous thunderstorm go thru
while my mom and I were at the rheumy's for my third Hyalgan shot.
The practitioner who gave me the shot checked one of the bursa in my
knee that has really been giving me fits.  She took out some fluid and
took it to the lab.  While I was waiting for my paperwork, I asked the
lab technician if there was any chance I could get my labs done, since
I was scheduled on Friday.  He said of course - it would be stupid for
me to have to come back in two days.  So I asked what about my mom who
was also due on Friday and out in the waiting room, waiting for me.
He said sure - so now we don't have to go back on Friday.  Hooray!
Mom was there because it is another week and a half before I can drive
again.  Had those seizures in January and according to South Carolina
law, can't drive for six months.

My middle son is into graphics and has a wonderful job he really
likes.  The policeman left the police force - too many cops getting
shot and the hours were horrible.  There was also no place to really
go, promotion wise.  So now he is a manager in the repair department
at Best Buy and loves it.

Who says our fur faced residents are spoiled?  Mine isn't, but, when
she wanted my half of the bed last night, I said "Forget it, kid!" and
she stalked off to sleep on the couch.
