My mother was in the hospital for a week with her uti and whatever
else was going on. It turns out that she has four compression
fractures in her spine (not new) and her hip is badly deteriorated.
The physio recommends that she not use her walker when out of the
house. It sounds like she needs a motorized wheelchair. Meanwhile we
had not heard about the fractures before. She does not want to go
through hip surgery again because she had three surgeries within about
a year and a half.

My eldest sister has been waiting for a tkr and was originally
scheduled for September. She got a call yesterday though, that she can
go in on the 19th. Now she is contemplating whether she should do it
now or wait. Summer is a busy time for her, mainly because they get so
much company. She also enjoys canning, etc.

And I just got heck from my neighbour because my cat was in their
yard.

Rose,

Sending the best thoughts for you and your mom. I am sorry to hear this
going on with  your mom. I hope her healing is quick. I hope she doesn't
have to have surgery on that hip. My thoughts are with both of you.

Love and hugs to all
Good thoughts coming your way too.

Thanks JO.
I just added  the last bit about my cat to put some levity into the
situation. I wasn't sure how it would "read" to others whereas if you
saw me in person you would see by tone of voice and expression what I
was thinking.

W e are all worried about Mom as it seems that she will be in pain
from now on- more so than ever. She is not a good surgical risk,
having gone through so many and I really doubt that surgery is an
option.

My sister is not a good surgical candidate either though. She has
breathing problems, and issues with weight that add to those problems.
She has to have her surgery at the coast, which is a little way from
home.

Rose, it does sound as if your mom needs that motorized chair.  Her hip is
bad enough now; walking on it surely won't do it any good.  She has my
prayers.  And so does your sister.  I hope she will go ahead with the TKR
even though it will upset her summer.  The relief of pain will be worth it.
And hope your cat decides to stay home!

(((((((((((((rose, rose's mom and rose's sister))))))))))))))  your poor
mom!  sounds like she's been through the wringer.  it all sounds so painful.
i sure hope they can suggest or do something to make her more comfortable.
and yes, it does sound like a motorized chair would be extremely helpful for
her.  (thinking---if i ever have to have one, i want it air-brushed with
flames and lightening bolts; a mounted ugah horn and a bicycle bell; a rally
steering wheel and a picture of "maxine" painted on the back of the seat.)

i can appreciate your sister's dilemma.  she probably mentally prepared
herself for the surgery to be in september, and the preponement's probably
got her mental preparations and mental scheduling thrown for a loop.  here's
hoping she can make it work out the way she wants it to.  but i have no
doubt that she will do what she feels she needs to do about it.

as for quigley---your little jumping, "visiting" stinker.<giggling>  it must
be the fragrance of a flower in the neighbor's yard that has him intoxicated
and enamored by it enough to want to go visit its source.LOL  i bet he just
didn't realize there are boundaries to your yard.  even fences aren't
boundaries to a cat---they're invitations to climb and play.  you need to
take a picture of your grouchy neighbor.  then write, "avoid" with an arrow
pointing to her on it and show it to quigley.  i'm sure he can read and will
get the message.<wry smile>

The thing is- I do not believe that he climbed their trellis that has
their clematis and robins nest on it. Nor  do I believe that he poked
the hole in the robin's egg. He is still far too timid. They said they
sprayed him with the hose and he should be soaked, but he was totally
dry. My guess is that it was another cat altogether, there are many
that roam whereas this one does not.

Mom has improved and is getting around much better. There is some sort
of dispute at the hospital where my sister was scheduled for surgery,
and as of now, she does not know when the surgery will be.

****it sounds to me like you're right about it being another cat.  also,
there are a lot of other birds who would territorially peck holes in an
interloper's egg.

***glad to hear about your mom doing better.  your sister must be feeling
slightly exasperated by the hospital's obliquity and its ensuing confusion,
or at least, i would be.

Exasperated is so mild a word for how your sister must be feeling.  I
know I get sick when they come in and say it's be an hour later than
we had you scheduled.  What's even worse is when you are lying in that
hospital bed and nobody comes in and tells you it's been delayed.  I
hope by now it has all been cleared up.  My advice, IMHO, would be to
grab a date as soon as she can get it.  My mom had a TKR and she moves
so much better.
