I started Humira two months ago.  A few days after my second injection,
I saw improvement in my swelling and pain.  It lasted until about three
days before my next injection.  The same thing with my third injection.
A few days before my last injection, I saw a major increase in
symptoms and have had no improvement since that injection.  I am in a
major flare now.  My hands and feet are about as bad as they have ever
been and my hips and lower back are absolutely screaming.  Has anyone
else here had this happen early with this med. and then have it become
effective again?  I was SO hopeful this would help get my RA under
control. I have an appointment with my rheumie next week (on the day
before my next injection) so he should be able to see a clear picture
of whats going on.

Thanks
angela

Hugs Angela!
I certainly hope your rheumie can help and get you can get in earlier then
next week!  You need to get that pain under control.  I have OA so can
sympathize partly - I just wanted to let you know that you in the right
place and good thoughts are winging their way to ya  :-)

Maybe your body needs a boost until the Humira can kick in.   When was your
last steroid shot in the rear?

Something definitely needs a boost.  My last steroid shot was around 20
May along with a week-long prednisone burst.  To be fair, some (most?)
of this would have to be stress induced.  There's been the death of my
grandfather (and meeting family members who never knew I existed until
the day of the funeral), elbow surgery, financial strains, along with
the usual day to day of being a self-employed single parent.  Here's
hoping my rd will have something good to offer when I see him next
week.

Thanks to all for your suggestions

Hi Angela,,,   Stress is not our friend and you went through aaaalotttt.
I remember when my mother died.
My family doctor thought I was having heart trouble.  Blood pressure up,,,
both ankles  swelled up,,, ended up be stress and a NSAID I was taking
called Indocine.
Never took a prescription NSAID again.  Good luck with it all.   Stick
around and get to meeting folks here.
A good group that wants to help people live with what they have lived with.

I ended up on Humira every 7-10 days and that works better for me.
maybe you just need it more often? Kate
