Just got back from an emergency trip to Calgary.  My DIL is back in the
hospital (after being out for a whole four days).  She is 2 months pregnant,
and since Friday morning has not been able to keep even a sip of water down.
Things are not looking too good right now, and this is her last chance to
add to her family, adoption aside.  When I left her this afternoon she could
barely raise her head.

In the meantime, I am learning to look after a two-year-old (were they
always that fast?).  My granddaughter will be living with me for a while,
and the two of us will be going to BC on vacation in a couple of days.  I am
nervous about being so far away from my DIL, but I can make it in six hours
if need be.  She prefers to be left alone to sleep right now.  My son is
somewhere in the southern US working, but I did speak with him last night
and let him know.

Please say a prayer for the health of mom & baby.  I'm really worried.

thanks,
Janet N

(((((((((((((((((((((prayers, too))))))))))))))))))))

I had a friend when we were stationed in Germany who had that
problem.  They kept her on IVs and it turned out all right.  As long
as they can catch the problem soon enough, I offer hope and my
prayers.  I will light a candle for her.  Can we (us latecomers) have
her name to add to our list of prayers?

Thank you for your prayers.  It is so good to hear of someone who came
through something similar and had it turn out well.  She had a similar
problem with her one successful pregnancy, but not until later.

Thank you all for your ongoing thoughts and prayers.  We are on our way to
visit today, then will be in BC for a couple of days for a high school
reunion.  I have a little girl here who can't wait to see her mommy.

I hope that your DIL continues to improve.
Have fun at your reunion. Hopefully the weather in BC will improve. In
May we had temps of +35° C. Since then though, it has been cool, wet,
and windy (at least here). I am soooo wishing it would improve.

You've got mine, Janet! How scary for the whole family. I really hope
everything turns out okay.

Yes, two year olds have always been that fast. You have to watch them
intently, never really sleeping, eating, or going to the bathroom by
yourself until they're grown, or gone home to mom and dad.lol

Consider it done, Janet.  And, yes, two year olds are VERY fast.  Don't
blink, though, or she'll be all grown up.

I was in a pretty similar situation when I was pregnant with Hope. When I was
in the hospital they gave me a vitamin IV and they also gave me Zofran.

I'm not sure if you guys can get that in Canada or if the name is the same but
I just thought I would throw it out there.

Hope everything turns out ok.

melissa (who remembers that scary time very well)

Thanks for the info... and so glad you came through ok with Hope.  All I
know is that the first time in she was on her pills and two IV's... and one
started with an M.  I'm going to see what I can find about Zofran, and pass
the info on to her.  This time the most successful one is, for some reason,
not being tried.

Got to be money talking. Insurance company is ruling

me started. Oh -- except you are in Canada? Well, not
sure then. Prayers still being said.

I'm pretty sure there was a anti-emetic (sp) that was pulled not to long ago
that quite a few people told me they had great success with...but they found
out had other really nasty side effects.

Now don't take my word on it my mind is like a metal sieve and all that....

Just a note to let you know, Janet, that all of you, esp. mom & baby, are in
my prayers and have been since I first saw this.  I've just been slow in
getting around to saying it.
