Hi Peter,
I've been doing the 50mg for a while now and I do not feel worse
towards the end of the week.
However, for me, the injection itself burns a bit going in. I don't
know if it's the concentration of the medicine or what. The burn only
lasts for as long as I am injecting, then goes away. Not a big deal
given the benefits. Enbrel's been great.
Peace...
Melvin

Hi,,, I actually liked the twice a week better. The once a week does burn a
little but not enough for me not to take it.

My wife switched to once a week (50 mg) and aside from the minor burning
notices no difference in the effect. Embrel has been quite helpful in
her opinion for her quite severe RA. On balance she refers once per week.
I have been on the 50mg shot for a couple months and it's ok. It burns quite
a bit more than the 25mg ones. Previous to the new shots, I had taken 2 25mg
once a week and liked that much better. No burning - same great effect. I
found the once a week dosing worked much better for me. I do feel a bit of a
fade on the last day or so. But with doing it twice a week, I found that
relief only lasted a couple days, with a fade following so I'd be in greater
pain a day or two before each shot (meaning twice in a week). The only thing
I didn't like about those shots is that I always developed big welts that
would last a few days. very itchy. And when I was taking the shots 2x/wk it
basically menat I always had a welt. With the new single dose shot, I don't
get the welts anymore. They must have changed the makeup of it a bit...

I've only been on Enbrel for a few months, with a one month break in there
due to other illnesses. I was never on the 2X/week shots. The one/week does
burn some going in, but when it gets to be too much, you just pause for a
couple of seconds until it eases off. Once I left it out longer than usual
to warm up because I accidently leaned on the digital timer and reset it.
not sure how long it was out, maybe 45 minutes, maybe an hour. It didn't
burn at all that time. I don't want to risk letting it get too warm on a
regular basis though. I have been letting it stay out closer to 30 minutes
now rather than 15 and it does burn a bit less.
I do wonder how I would have done on the twice/week shots. I have some fade
and do feel it kick in, but having used it only 4 of the last 5 months, I'm
still hoping that will disappear over time. It definitely took a solid 2
months for the Enbrel to begin helping my costochondritis. My fatigue
improved from the very beginning though.

Hi,
I am wondering; until some time ago I was on 7,5 mg pred plus twice a
week 25mg Enbrel, lowered the dose to 5 and that managble just.
I am now on 2,5 mg pred and twice a week, no,I should say every 4th day
on Enbrel as my rd wants me to come of Pred because of it's side
effects and my age. The 2,5 mg is just not enough, I have tried for
almost 3 months now and am scared to think what I will feel like on just
being on Enbrel. I was thinking of either shoot Enbrel every 3rd and
every 4th day since my rd told me many people who are on 50mg once a
week need to take the shots more frequently in the end anyway and there
were more side-effects. He reckoned there was no use in shotting 50mg
once a week.
BUT reading about your taking a shot once a week, I would like to give
it a try, if it were just to see if I can avoid the twice a week fade.
What worries me though is the burning.
I never used to be afraid of needles, but since I experienced a really
rough dr who apparently thought of the needle as a darts-arrow, I would
rather go for 2 needles at the same time once a week than a bigger
needle that burns.
What do you think, anyone done this before?
