The alarm went off at 5:45 AM, time to feed the two dogs and two cats,
outside for dogs for their early morning potty breaks. Wash, shave,
dress and eat breakfast and dress. In the car by 6:45 AM for 7:45 AM
lab test appointment and then onto the 8:45 AM Cheomothearaphy session.
Sounds easy but, they had not told me that I could take my pain meds as
usual, so I arrived at the hospital in great pain and in need of help
getting from the car to the Cancer Center at KU. Med. Soon after I
arrived I was able to take my meds and I rejoined the human race once again.
I started off with a medication that would help prevent vomiting, the
Picc Line dressing was replaced, Picc Lines were flushed and I was
offered the choice of a bed or recliner while the Cheomothearaphy was
administered.
My still aching muscles and joints chose the bed to begin with. The
entire session was mostly uneventful. There were numerous changes in the
drip speed, additions of new meds to the various branches of the drip
line and every half hour my temperature was checked as well as my blood
pressure. I laid down and Jeanne and I talked tø the nurse technician
about various meds and discovered that she had once lived in Ohio and
still had many relatives there. We found many tales about living in
Ohio and both agreed we were enjoying our lives in Missouri.
I dozed of some of the time. sat up part of the time, read a magazine
and talked with Jeanne during the duration of the session. We finally
left the Cancer Center at 6:47 PM with prescriptions for 100 MG
Prednisone to be taken once a day and Colozopen (sp) to prevent vomiting
and diarrhea which I take once every 8 hours beginning tomorrow. We
arrived home about 7:45 had supper, said hello to our pets
checked in with the family and it's now 1:00 AM , Tuesday getting ready
for bed. Have a 1:40 PM appointment with my Doctor today, Tuesday.
They tell us the effects of the chemotherapy starts kicking in next week.
Good Night all
a weary, Don Whitely

Don, not only looooooong, but very tiring, I know. Let's just pray that it
will be worth all the time and the tiredness. Glad you have something for
vomiting and hope that it works perfectly and you won't be sick. Get all
the rest you can before the next time.

Hello Don:
I hope that the next few weeks and months will not be too difficult.
It sounds like day one was a little rough.
