I was out running errands with my grandson.  Walked across a small parking
area and stepped up on the curb.  Went down like a sack of potatoes.  No
idea why.  I do not remember stumbling or anything.  The amazing part is I
did no damage at all.  Other than embarrassing the grandson.  Hit the
sidewalk first with both knees, then caught the weight from my upper body
with the palms of my hands.  Nothing is wrenched or twisted.  Hands aren't
even scrapped.  Knees will probably be bruised but aren't so far.  Wish I
knew how someone my size can fall and not get hurt.  I'd teach classes.
Once down I'm kind of like a fish out of water.  No way I can get up on my
own.  I knew these great big overgrown grandsons were good for something.
He got me up with no problem.

I hope you continue showing no signs of really hurting yourself.

It must be a Jo thing though.

I hit my leg with the car door on Sat. Nice purple bruise and activated the
leg, ankle and foot from an injury 4 yrs ago.

bummer, jo.  i, too, am glad you aren't badly hurt.  sometimes, i think they
need to make curbs out of memory foam or at least, stunt their growth!  i
swear i find all the curbs that are right in the middle of their growth
spurts!

Please be careful for the next couple of days, Jo. Fall injuries can
make themselves apparent long after one would expect. Regarding falling
without breaking things, I learned a bit in an aikido class at my
university before my health made it too risky to continue.

Cheers,

Ari

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Glad you weren't hurt, Jo! And lucky you had your grandson with you! I'd
still be down there, LOL :-)  Take care of yourself :)

Oh, this isn't a first for me by any means.  I'm quite good a getting
strangers to help or to find help if necessary.  I do love athletic young
men who play football in their spare time.  Who can pretend that picking me
up is no big deal.  I can imagine falling on purpose for their attention,
but seem to do it a couple of times a year without intent or warning.

Only some very faint bruises and tender spots on my knees.  You would think
someone my size would do more damage in a fall.
