just a mild-mannered vent here. i am sure i have the most deformed foot
in this group. (where is KJ, by the way? and kimmy?) it is hideous and
getting hideouser by the moment. and i've always had weird legs, as
well. lately, my left leg (the one with the bad foot/ankle) has been
swelling more than usual and giving me a lot of pain. no discoloration,
but there is a bump on my shin that's been there a long time. when the
swelling gets good, my leg in profile looks like a rolling hillside
from mid-shin down to my foot. i may or may not have lymphedema in that
leg. who knows?
anyhow, since i'm flying to california next week, i decided it was time
to rule out a DVT. i had quite a positive medical experience for a
change! had the exam at 10:30, got squeezed into my rheumy's office for
blood work, got a doppler and an xray, all in the same building and
done by 1:30! i was impressed. no dvt, no weird bony knob on my shin.
will probably have to have an MRI after the moving dust settles.
does anyone else have very weird swelling of a leg above a very
deformed RA foot and ankle? does anyone here wear a brace on their leg
from RA? i don't want to, but i'm really starting to have trouble
walking. :-(

thanks dee tee. you are a strong lady to be hand-holding so soon after
all you've been through. i think i'm having a little
getting-house-ready-to-sell, buying-new-house, two california weddings
in the next month and a half, big-move-coming-up etc etc freaking out
time!

So then Diane, I see all you are doing is sitting around watching tv and
eating bonbons. (Running and hiding before I really do get hit.)
You gonna be anywhere near me when you come to CA.
I got another one of your books. I loved the other three. I got summers
child at a yard sale Saturday. The day I tried closing the car door on my
leg. LOL ;-)
I guess i just got too excited that I found 6 Nora Roberts, One of yours,
and one VC andrews books. Also Jim found me a squirrel nut cracker.
She what the little cheap things do to me.ROFL. ;-)
I don't know how you are going to keep up the pace with all that you are
doing and all that is going on. Wishing you the best.

hi jo,
glad you found one of my oldies! sorry about your foot and ankle. at
least you know that you hurt it and so have an excuse for it to be a
mess. i hope it is easily resolved.
i can't remember where in CA you are? i will be in SD the 23rd to the
29th, and then in late july, i'll be in monterey. both times for
unmissable weddings (best friend and then, stepdaughter).

Oh Diane, I was hoping to meet you. Boo Hoo.
I am in Central Valley. So I am quite a way from there.
Oh well it was a good thought.
I still look at my choc. squirrel and think about how you wrote on the
package don't eat it. For those who don't know it is a candle. ;-)
I have it sitting so I can see it when I am in family room where I usually
am. So it reminds me of you all the time.

Diane-
I wore AirCast braces for 4 years and my ankles self-fused and I'm getting
along fine, now (no braces). Jan O'

jan, do you think the aircasts helped your ankles fuse? i keep hoping
mine will fuse on their own. i'm sure they're about halfway there. i've
been using an aircast but can only wear my big ol' sneakers with them.
could you wear other shoes with them?
glad you're getting along fine!

Diane,
If you find out what this is let me know. I have some of the same things
going on with my right leg. I go into the drs tomorrow for her to look at
this leg. They did xrays of the leg and ankle. This is the one I fell and
hurt like 3-4 yrs ago. They xrayed the foot at the time but nothing else. It
keeps giving me problems ever since.
I just hit it this weekend with the car door. Real Smart huh.
So the side of my foot and ankle swelled up last night. I have a lovely
purple bruise now on the side of my calf where the car door hit.
I am impressed with how quickly you got thru that all. I hope things turn
out well for you.

(((((((((((((diane)))))))))))))) hope your leg and foot feel better soon,
sweetie. boy, i know you'd feel all better, immediately, if you had a peek
at my legs!LOL is the bump on your shin a soft bump or hard one? i've got
soft ones on both shins (plus a massive hearniated shin muscle that was
repaired once and re-ruptured). my doc said the soft ones are no biggiew0w.
i don't have RA though, so that's no help to you, i guess. glad your rd got
you in stat! that's cool. i'm impressed too. take care, hon.

the bumps are soft, tho the doc didn't think they were lipomas. i do
have them on both shins. it's just that recently, the area around one
of them swells and burns. that's what got my attention. thanks for the
input.

that burning sensation might be from a nearby nerve that is irritated by the
swelling, diane. did your doc mention what he thought the swelling was
about?
