Well, we choose one of the offers....it's for $25K over asking price.  They
seem to be a nice family, they really want the house and their finances are
impeccable.  So we go to closing on July 15th and after a few days of saying
goodbyes, we'll be Ohio bound.

I did too much yesterday and so today I am just vegging.  I can't seem to
get the hang of doing nothing.  It'll come to me, I'm sure. LOL

Hugs to everyone, DeeTee

DeeTee, what a blessing!  Be careful though while packing and moving.  You
have to get completely over your surgery and get your strength back, so
don't overdo, please.

Yes - all I did today was computer stuff and rest.  I didn't even get
dressed, just slipped a robe on.  My waistband on slacks seems to irritate a
spot that doesn't even have a cut.  I had so much scar tissue that they had
to work around, my bruises have bruises.  Anyway, Ultram is helping a
lot...that and not doing much.

Gonna go to bed now.  Thank you everyone for your love and well wishes and
your incredible friendship.

I am so happy for you. Last person to look at our house
told their agent that our house was too dark. ?????
Even our agent didn't get that one. What it was was hot
but dark - oh well.
Vegging is what I do best lately. You need to take
lessons from me. :)

could they mean the outside, duckie? you mentioned once that the
exterior was brown.

rofl  Very possibly. Maybe we should paint it white. I
remember telling an agent once that one house had too
much wallpaper. What I meant at the time was "my
husband is not allowed to use any tool which leaves it
all up to me and I am not tackling a house that needs
every room striped of hideous wallpaper.' So what
people say does not always tell the whole story.
We have had no one mention price so even though we have
had no nibbles, that has not been the sticking point
except in that it is not mark on the clearance rack. I
guess everyone else is tired of having open houses as
well cause the whole town is having only three that we
can find. A new one just around the corner went on the
market on Wednesday. It has 1700 sq ft and a new
kitchen and 2 new baths. 3 bd, 7 rooms Contractor
bought it at 375K and redid the floors, kitchen,
bathrooms, and put in a new furnace and central air. It
went on the market for $515K   Ours is 2578+300 more
for the laundry room area which is unfinished and we
have new that stuff too minus the central air and
priced at 539,900. So we wait.

why strip?  If it's stuck on there good, just paint over it - Base coat of
primer, then color......  geez, I think I've been watching too much HGTV
lately!  Half the time I have big objections to at least some of what they
do, but I've picked up a lot of decorating stuff I'll never use!  LOL
9They'd shudder at all our off-white walls, but we like them!)

Knowing what I saw houses going for when we were in the area, it sure seems
like yours should be considered a steal at that price.  Damn shame you hit
such a downturn in the area's economy.  (I'm kinda missing the city right now
- I'm in a phase where I'm tired of driving 25 miles one way to shop -
sometimes further - and having to spend several hours doing ALL errands so I
don't have to drive back in too many times in one week.  This country
living's been robbing me of too many naps lately!)

actually, I just realized why I'm missing the city!  I watched "Good Will
Hunting" on TV this afternnon and saw lots of our old Cambridge haunts on
film, all nicely cleaned up for the movie, LOL..... made me miss tehm a bit.
But once the remnants of Arlene clear out and the cold front cools us back
off and I get a couple more days of good rest, I'll be happy to be here
again!

Good news, DeeTee!
Tis the Season! We just sold Mom's house very quickly...for $10,000
more than we planned on asking. It never even made it to the market. My
realtor friend told a customer that we were getting ready to put the
house up. He asked to see it and made a high offer on the spot. He
didn't want to take a chance on it hitting the market. It's amazing, to
me. I wouldn't dream of buying a house in this kind of shape. It needs
so much work...major cleaning, paint, carpet, all 3 baths need to be
gutted and redone, kitchen needs updating badly, furnace is 40 years
old (!!!), roof's 25 years old, none of the windows seal, no central
air, etc. I hope this guy has a lot of money and energy LOL. Best news
is he has 1/3 cash to put down, has already qualified for the mortgage
and wants to close by July 5th. YAY! We're almost there! I hope you and
Bob get through your sale/move quickly and easily, too. Also sending
prayers for your speedy recovery!

It's going to be interesting to see how we are priced. Last year when we
put our house up (don't ask) we sold in a week...this year...well I'm
hoping for the same but not holding my breath.

melissa (who wishes she would get more than asking price)

Congratulations!  and you deserve to veg for a while.  Rent some good DVDs,
check out a couple of good books from the library and you'll soon find it
easier to sit still!  LOL  or would you rather come visit me in Michigan and
help handtie 100 service booklets for Mike's ordination?

Neither.  Rob is home right now and IS NOT a restful person. He always has
to have sound...either the TV, radio, or stereo.  Silence is an anathema to
him and a necessity to me so it won't be restful this week.  He starts his
new job next week and things will be better.  I go into my room, close the
door, turn off the phone, lay on the bed and luxuriate.  LOL

Everyone here keeps telling me we have so much to do.  They don't realize
military knows how to move.  We had almost everything packed before the
house went on the market.  The walls are bare and spackled, the books,
tapes, dvds, etc. are packed in marked boxes, the clothes we don't wear
often are packed.  All we need to do is sell off the furniture, continue
packing our storeroom/basement and then, just before moving day, we'll pack
out the kitchen and the things that must go in the car with us.  We're
thinking of getting a pod put out front and putting all the boxes in it.
It'll make the house echo...echo....echo....but, what the hey.

Have fun tying the booklets.  I've done that for several weddings, etc.,
through the years.  Not a fun project in my opinion.

Hugs, DeeTee

Charlie is retired Air Force and I have never "moved"

Our first apartment, I really didn't own anything when we moved in.  When we
wee moved to Alaska, I went to work in the morning from our apartment, and
went home to my parents where we stayed the last few days before we left.
When we left Alaska, again I went to work in the morning and it was done by
the time I got off.  Our next place was here, they moved us in and we have
been here 24 years.  Also Charlie got moved around so much in his twenty
years, I'll never get him out of this house.

To be honest a nice move would do a lot to help us get rid of clutter and
get things cleaned up.  But there are still unpacked boxed from Alaska in
the garage.  Haven't needed our arctic flight suits yet.

the sign won't turn out to be more clutter.LOL

Ah, those kids!  Just when you think they are grown and gone, they're back in
the house, disrupting things again!  LOL  My mom's settled that now that she
needs hearing aids - pop 'em out and it's much quieter.

military moves, hmmmmm, we had a retired military guy helping us move last
summer.  I surely hope his wife did most of the moving logistics as he was
NOT a good packer!  Just about made Mike nuts as he just wanted to throw
everything in the truck and go rather than loading with care and completely
as Mike and I both do.  (we've reinforced that approach through years of
camping out of a Corolla!  LOL)  Still, I hope we don't move again for a few
years and that when we do we can afford to buy some stuff new instead of
moving everything as we did the last 2 times.  (yes, even cheap cleaning
supplies, if we had space!)  This moving with no assurance of future income
has been for the birds.

bizarrely enough, I was hand-tying the ordination booklets because none of
the staplers we had access to could staple them along the center line.  I may
be stuck doing it for the second rodination now, as Mike likes the look.
Wasn't too bad, using my sewing awl and assorted needles.  The hard part was
tying the knots! ----- just when you think your hands are better......  Ah
well, they are all done now and laying in wait at the church.  (It going to
appear to some as though I'm being left out as I'm doing nothing *during* the
service.  Ironic, as I designed the service booklet cover for Mike, tied all
the booklets, made Mike's alb (the white robe they wear for some services)
and I'm making all the special communion bread for the bishop's visit.....
the service and following dinner are my chance to rest!)

I hope you've had a quiet day and made great strides in recovering!
