      ISIS REPORTS ON ANTISENSE DRUGS

Isis Pharmaceuticals of Southern Cxalifornia reported
that multiple pre-clinical studies showed that second-
generation antisense drugs selectively inhibited the
activity of proteins tht promote inflammation and
improved a variety of symptoms in mouse models of
asthma and chronic lung inflammation.

The company presented data a the annual meeting of
the American Thoracic Society to demonstrate the
efficacy of aerosolized second-generation drugs in
vivo and the potential of ant isense inhibitors as
inhaled therapeutics for inflammatory diseases of
the lung.

The data, the company said, complements the first
Isis drug in development, ISIS 369645, to treat
chronic asthma.
