I finally got all my back disability payments from my employer's
insurance company. So all the bills are paid and I have the money for
June's rent. I even went to the Dollar Store today and had a good time!
I got lots of stuff for the kitchen and around the apartment and only
blew $20 plus tax :-) I feel SO much better now that all the bills are
paid and I know when I flip the light switch the light will come on :)
Next week I'm going to get the oil changed in the car and get it washed.
The very first thing I did was to fill the tank with gas as I had been
only able to put a few dollars here and there into the tank for the past
two months. So now my car is happy and so am I :-))
Hugsies,
Carole :)

This is so good to hear. One of my mother's best
friends was married to the man who invented the Dollar
General Store. The boys still own them. Was that the
same company as I thought they were only in the south.
I always buy my washcloths and hair towels there as I
don't like fat washcloths. And we can get puzzles for
Spencer for under a dollar a piece.

Carole, that is indeed good news. I know that when I have been worrried
about finances, I am just miserable. I can only imagine how hard it has
been for you to have that along with your health problems. Am so thankful
it came through.

Oh Carole, this is so great. It is so good to hear this.
I also love the dollar store shopping. It is so nice to get things at times
for so cheap.

Yay, such a huge relief! I hope that you are able to get some decent sleep
now. What a nightmare you've been living.
Big hugs,

Thanks everyone :) And yes, I am sleeping better now. My body is still
doing weird things as to when it wants to sleep, but at least when I do,
the nightmares have stopped. And I can now answer the phone without
having to worry about it being someone to call and tell me that
something was going to be shut off.
Now I just have to start saving again as all my savings are gone. I'm
hoping to hear from social security soon too and then I'll have a better
idea of what I'm doing with the rest of my life.
Hugs,
Carole

Yeah!!! i love hearing that finally there is going to be a stable income
for you! btw, depending upon your income level, you might now also qualify
for reduced electricty and water and gas bills. also, do check into
pharmaceutical prescription relief, from the manufacturers of the drugs you
need and use---you might qualify for those, too.
you've been in such chaotic financial stress and distress for so long, this
stability is going to go a long way in helping you feel better physically.
this is such good news for you! i'm happy for you.
<smiling> and doing a ((((((((((happy dance)))))))))))) for you.

Thanks Kate. I'd do a happy dance but I can't dance anymore...too tiring
:) But I did have a good time paying all the bills last Friday. I still
have to get to DSHS and find out if I have to pay back the assistance
they gave me and the food stamps, but I've had a bad cold this week so
I'll go next week.
To say my life has been chaos is an understatement. I actually ended up
going to a psychologist because of all of this. I was not sleeping and
having horrible nightmares when I did sleep. I still have my medical and
prescription coverage from my job so I'm OK on those. Once I get
approved for SSDI and go on that, I will look into prescription
programs. My cardiologist is very good about giving me samples of the
two expensive ones so that's a big help. I get too much to qualify for
reduced electricity, but I do get reduced phone. So every little bit
helps. I just hope I can still do all of it once I go on SSDI. My car
loan will be paid off next April so I just have to make it through then.
I'm also going to be looking for a cheaper apartment next year. I had to
sign my lease here for another year as I don't have the money to move
right now, nor the energy. But I figure in another year, I can throw
stuff out a little at a time and I'll start looking for something less
expensive next April/May. I want to stay in this area since I like my
cardiologist and I wouldn't want to start over with another one. The
hospital I'm near is also one of the best for cardiology, so I don't
want to venture too far away from this area.

Carole, your life is starting to come back together a little bit at a time. I
have been reading your posts and sending empathetic thoughts but should put them
in writing too. Unless you have ESP! Good wishes from Ontario.

Thanks Joan :) I was talking to a neighbor yesterday and she said "Geez,
your life has been hell since you moved out here." I kind of laughed as
although it's true, I'm still happier out here than I was in NYC. At
least I have my mountains, lakes, trees and oft times blue skies. And
the sky when it's blue here, it's MUCH bluer than in NYC. And at night I
get stars :))

I understand, Carole. There were real advantages to living in Boston when we
were there, but I'd start feeling so claustrophobic after a while and the
pollution and dirt....... well, we agreed it might be nice if we had the
funds to live in one of the nearer suburbs and go in for lots of the "Arts"
stuff, but I'm so much happier, ultimately, in the country, even as isolated
as we are in our current location. I need outdoor scenery around me, and I
don't just mean in a city park!
