Had the endoscopy yesterday morning. No bleeding ulcers, thank goodness!
However....

1 - The squamocolumnar junction (whatever THAT is) was somewhat irregular.
Two biopsies were taken. Otherwise, the esophagus appeared to be normal.

2 - The stomach is normal.

3 - A 4 mm smooth nodule was found in the duodenum.  Five biopsies were
taken.

I am supposed to sit tight for two weeks and then call the doctor for the
results.  He has not yet addressed the pain in the side issue.  I'm off to
the Internet to do some research on duodenal nodules.

Thanks for your prayers and well-wishes,
DeeTee

The squamocolumnar junction irregularity is most likely from chronic reflux.
And nodules in a person your age are to be expected.  They are a likely
source of your bleeding as well.  If they looked cancerous, your doc would
have requested a frozen section and would have had an answer within hours.

All in all, I think this was a good report DeeTee.  It could have been a lot
worse!

I like the sounds of Walt's interpretation!  Enough so, that I'm repeating
it!  heehee  And so far, all they've found is stuff that can be treated,
which is even better.  I'm keeping the prayers said and the fingers crossed
and you keep us posted, ok?

Hi DeeTee,,,  Because of finding 7 in my nose area, we did what you have
done.   It is my understanding that if it was one of those little button
type, chances are it is OK but if it was one of the strung out longer type,
the chances go the other way but a person has to wait on the findings every
time.   Good luck with it.

This one looks like a cashew or an overgrown peanut.  It is 4 mm long.
We'll see what the doc says....when he says it.

Thanks, Guys!

No, not yet.  I'm expecting him to call any day now.  My black stools have
almost quit.  Had an almost black today so it's dwindling.  The pain in my
side is still there, though.

Well, the GI doc called.  All biopsies were normal. Hooray!!  Now, since the
black stuff seems to have stopped, and it is *only* anemia, the GI doc is
referring me back to the RD.  He said that if things don't improve, they can
have me swallow a little camera that records all day long and see what's
happening in the small intestine.  My ultrasound of the upper right quadrant
is in August.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers.  I'm still pretty wiped out, but at
least I no longer believe I am in danger.  We'll see what the RD says.
Probably, "Next...."
