I have a stupid question, probably should know all this since I have had RA
for about 2 years, but I am learning every day. When I wake up in the
morning the fatigue I feel is over whelming, like I Have never went to bed
and I feel drugged, very hard to pull myself out of bed. At first it was all
the stiffness, that isn't to bad right now just the fatigue, it gets a lot
better by noon, is this part of RA?
Thanks again

It's part of RA for me when I flaring, but can also be a sign of low, dare I

Thanks Kelly, I know my last blood work showed that I was low but not low
enough as they said. With the MTX, I can only take folic acid in food form,
can't take the pills or the other one that starts with a L does a number on
my bladder, guess I better start upping those cereals that are fortified
with the folic acid.
Thanks

Folic acid is a B vitamin; i*r*o*n is a mineral. Not the same. Perhaps you
can take a supplement in pill form since it's different. My son has needed
long term supplementation and takes it as an elixir.
If not, blackstrap molasses is a good source (I put it in my decaf coffee
when I was pregnant). Dark leafy greens and red meat, too (liver if you can
stand it). Also, the presence of vitamin c increases the absorption of the
mineral in question. So make sure you drink some OJ when you are eating
these things.

The fatigue certainly can be a part of the RA, especially if you know you are
flaring in other ways. It can also be a sign that you need that supplement
that's been mentioned (avoiding our spammer again by not saying it). In my
experience though, neither of those reasons for the fatigue routinely improve
during the day. I always stay greatly fatigued all day from both of them.
If yours really improves a lot by noon and stays improved, it sounds like it
might be something that is affected by the meds you take when you get up,
whatever they may be. Or maybe even some other factor. (I have a lot of
fatigue in the morning if my bedroom gets too dusty due to my allergies, for
example) If it just improves some though and only for a few hours, it may be
that around noon is your "high point" of the day.
I always judge my fatigue levels by whether I just get up and do stuff when i
think of it or if I have to *make* myself do things. I know the fatigue is
really, really better when I can't sit still! Doesn't happen as often as I'd
like these days, LOL
A huge help for me was being diagnosed with fibro as well. With
anti-depressants I started sleeping better and the brain fog was cleared
greatly, making it much easier to think and leaving me with less of the
fatigue feeling. Then Enbrel gave me more energy..... slowly we are piecing
it all together.
