If Harv's link doesn't work for her have her try
http://groups-beta.google.com/group/alt.support.arthritis?hl=en

Google stores all posts we ever made.

Here are a couple of good sites for her to do some reading:
http://www.arthritis.co.za/
when she gets there go to Index page> Disease Index>
He discusses both diseases there. Note he is a doctor
from South Africa and some of the medication names will
be different in his country but the treatment will be
the same.

http://arthritisinsight.com/medical/disease/pmr.html

And message boards to ask questions will be here

http://rheumorweb.com/

And of course us at ASA
The good news for your sister is that she has been
diagnosed. That is often the hardest part.  If I am not
mistaken Nann's mother has pmr.

yes, she does.  She responded well to prednisone, had to take it much longer
than the doctor expected, but is down to a fairly low dose now.  Our neighbor
has what I think is the same combination as your mom, but she's been a little
vague about the most recent diagnosis (I know it was temporal arteritis
earlier in the process).  Anywya, I don't know a lot of detail about it, but
if you know of any specific questions she has, I can try to answer them.
Better here than in email though, I'm getting soo much spam lately that only
truly recoginzed names get read.

sandi,
my mom had PMR at about age 70. it was awful for her, but it is also
self-limiting. she had it a couple of years (on prednisone), then got
back to doing the hula and line dancing for another fifteen. i wish
your sister good luck.

Thank you all... you are so very kind and caring to help... These
responses are encouraging...I know she is on predisone so maybe she is
getting some good treatment..I hope I can get her hooked up here so she
can monitor your post..She is a retired nurse and this pain and not
being able to get around good has got her so down..Please keep her in
your prayers too..
thanks again.. I have to go to the Fibromyalsia group..I have that and
now I feel better knowing there are help groups out there..My sister and
I are both fairly new to the web..
God bless you all and I pray for healing for all..Sandi G
