I found it with my left foot. Went down like a ton of bricks. Got a
contusion on my right knee and have an ace bandage and air cast on my
sprained left ankle. Doc gave me samples of Celebrex and a script for
Vicodon as needed.
Quick Care at the hospital said rest and ice. My doctor said walk and
keep the bandage and cast on for two to three months. I do use a cane. I
wasn't using in the house (use it mostly for balance--which obviously
didn't work on Friday when I took the tumble). Now I'm using it in the
house too.
I was taking my dog to the groomer. He turned out real nice. Got his
summer haircut and looks like the lab part of the lab/spaniel mix he is.
I'd love to have the long curly hair but just can't keep it combed
properly. I'm thinking of letting his ears look spaniel and the rest of
him look lab. Should be an interesting effect.

Sorry about your mishap.
I have an Australian Shepherd that I usually shave in the summer. I have
them leave his fluffy ears and glorious tail. He feels like a different dog
when he is shaved. He is more spry. I hate to shave him because his hair
is like silk and I love to cuddle with him (*as does my husband). He does
not shed, thank Heaven. We haven't shaved him yet this summer. Maybe I
won't even do it this year. He is in the house all the time where it is
cool so with his arthritis limiting his going in the car, he doesn't get
much chance to get hot.
Anyway, again, sorry about your fall. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Nell, I know it will not make you feel better but one of the biggest
things in the life of a person with arthritis are spills and falls. Broken
hips, knees, and whatever are what we all are afraid of. My problem used
to be that I would not raise my foot high enough when walking across the
street and going over the curb.
Your dog sounds great. I am going to get me another one one of these days.

Yowza! potholes are nasty enough in the car, being tripped up by one on foot
is so much worse! Sprained ankles are just hateful. I hope all heals
quickly.
Lab/spaniel mix, eh? sounds just adorable and I bet he's a fun-loving pooch.

Oww! No fun!
Hope everything heals up well and quickly.
Does your dog look more like a lab or a spaniel? We have a lab/ golden
retriever mix. She's mostly lab, but with slightly longer fur and a mostly
retriever face (except for a lab's triangular ears).

Ouch! Watch out for those potholes, Nell! We used to have some nasty
ones in NYC during the winter. Your dog sounds adorable, we want to see
photos! :)
