Diminishing effect of enbrel

I seem to be getting stiffer in the mornings and a bit more painful
when I rest for any length of time during the day.
My blood still shows a low ESR and CRT.

What happens when the effects of enbrel are fading? Does the pain get
worse and then the CRP/ESR rise later or what?
Any comments gratefully received.

Are you sure you aren'[t just having a flare Peter?  I do get the odd flare
with the Enbrel, just nowhere near as bad as they used to be.

Hi Peter,,,,  Even the pros that work for ENBREL will tell you that you will
have flares.   It does not mean that Enbrel is changing in its effectiveness
for you.  It could be that you are not resting well or that you have more
stress in your life right now.  Those are a couple of things that you can
have some control over and it could be something to talk to your RD about.

Isn't this called an oxymoron?

You can learn a great deal from the factory reps if you are smart enough to
ask the right questions and then there are times a person needs to listen to
be able to learn,   Try it some time.

but actually it CAN lose its effectiveness, as many of us here have
experienced. it did for me over the course of a couple of years, and i
switched to remicade, which has also gradually required higher and
higher doses for the same level of relief. and my sed rate didn't
necessarily climb even though i was more swollen and painful.

After my left knee replacement the Enbrel didn't seem to be working as
well as it had, that's when my RD added methotrexate.  Perked right up
after that.

Speaking for myself, the enbrel slowly stopped working for me after two
years.  It gave me severe iritis, eye nerve problems and finally it gave me
sarcoidosis.  Sarcoid was listed in Enbrel's list of possible side effects
back in 2002, but my doctor said he never heard of it.

I was switched finally to Humira and while it doesn't work as dramatic as
Enbrel did, it takes away most of the inflammation.  So far I don't seem to
have any bad side effects (that I know of).  It burns like heck going in
though.

When they were making the choice between Enbrel and
Remicade for me to control my chronic iritis -- those
cases of iritis that Enbrel seemed to cause made the
decision for us.
