After giving up Vioxx, I was put on Bextra and bought 30 of them out of
pocket ($102)--my insurance would not pay for it. I took one a day until
I had 20 left at which time I was told not to take them any more. Is
there any way that I could get a refund for these, and who should I
appealto? My pharmacist is not very pleasant and I fear future lack of
care on his part. Can I bypass him? Is there anyone here who had the
same experience?
Thank you very much.

They always told me, once the drug leaves the pharmacist, there is no
returning of the pills by anyone. Against somekind of law??? I have no
clue.
I know it is illegal to sell the drug, so why not contact your doctor, ask
him for someone who is in need of that drug and maybe he can help you out
that route.
If you sell drugs to anyone, you can get arrested because you have NO
liscense to distribute medications and that is against the law. Believe it
or not.
sorry but that is what people are suppose to do but???????????? You go
figure that last part.

Forgot, and since bextra has been "stopped in production" and taken off the
market, it is most likely you are stuck with that bill.
I would totally be scared to give it to anyone with the "side" effects it
has not been shown.
You could however get the toll free number of the manufacture and SEE if
they will reimburse you. Call pharmacist, get the manufacuter and go from
there.

Pharmacies cannot take meds back.

Hi Jack,
I agree with the others, pharmacists will not take back any drugs and rebate
you. I also have extra Bextra almost a full prescription for my OA. I paid
for myself, and would not want to give this drug to anyone else either.
I took myself off Bextra after hearing the possible bad side effects. I was
on it last year, from August - Oct. way before the drug was taken off the
market. I questioned my doctors about the drug then, and although they said
any drug has side effects they didnt tell me i 'should' stop taking it,
because it was still on the market. Makes you wonder just because a drug is
'still' on the market is it really safe? Here's an interesting website
check it out, it mentions lost medical expenses, but dont know if that means
prescriptions.

That is true for taking back and re-stocking/re-selling a drug,
but in the case of a recall there should be some mechaniam
as there is when there is a CPSC recall.
Don't flush all those pill down a toilet yet. They may be worth
something.

jack, i think i'd call my local newspaper about this. they would either
know who you can contact for a refund, find out who you can contact, or
create a story around this situation so that more people didn't have to eat
the price of very expensive recalled drugs. have you tried calling the mfg
of bextra about a rebate, by going to the website: www.bextra.com ?

Someone suggested I try "Bextra.com" and sure enough it works. It is a
site sponsored by Bextra (Pfizer) and it gives a number to call to
inquire. It will require filling out a form which should come in a
couple of weeks, mailing it back to them, and then waiting about 12
(yes, TWELVE) weeks for a response. Short of giving away my first born
son, every possible question has already been answered over the phone,
so I am real curious what else is going to be required of me to get
reimbursed for the 30 pills I am stuck with at a cost to me of over
$100.00. I'll let you know. What takes so g..d.. long???

I'm inclined to say "it figures" considering this is dealing with a
pharmaceutical company. I was having no problems on Bextra, so I just waited
until I was almost out of my most recent refill before calling my doc to get
switched. Gotta admit to being kinda happy to try relafen, which is
available generically, saving me $30/month right there.

Speaking of Relafin - I began Relafin to alleviate Bextra side affects (in
my case, none, but was told I should stop the Bextra, by the doc) I had no
discomfort in joints on Relafin - but oh, boy!! Tongue sores and
sensitivity - I have to stop this Relafin as well - now I have plenty of
Bextra, leftovers and now Relafin leftovers. This all puts me in an
agitated state as to what to do next!! I think I'll just put myself back on
Bextra - it works without the other very uncomfortable side affects.>
