It occurs to me that I might not be able to wash my hair for a while after
they drill a hole in my skull.  Are there any good products for keeping my
hair clean while I have to keep the dressing dry?

There's a product that comes in a can, called Pssst. It's a dry shampoo that
you spray on and comb out. We carry it where I work...at least I think we
still do. Try looking at Wal-Mart, Walgreen's, etc. You should be able to
find it fairly easily.

Jo if you don't find it at those places, I know that a Barber & Beauty
Supply business would have either that or something similar.

I found a link so you can see what it looks like...

I could ship it to you for less than the web site here. Sheesh, the price.
You should have no trouble finding it, though.

I used to use baby powder long ago. But I know there
are products that are used for bedridden patients. ummm
Plug the words 'dry shampoo' into google. I even found
a recipe for a home made version.
Looks like there is one called Psssst which is
available practically everywhere.
Is that what you are looking for?

This would probably keep your dressing dry if you are careful.  I have
used it when I am sea kayaking in Mexico and all I have to wash in is
salt water.  It is a no rinse shampoo.

Thanks guys.  I always have a hard time finding stuff unless I know what I'm
looking for.

Jo,
When I had my brain surgery...Well it doesn't seem like I had to wait that
long before I washed my hair...Since they use staples...I am thinking that
when I came home from the hospital I could wash mine...
Now they did shave part of my head...My hole in the head was right above my
right ear...And in the hospital I had a head dressing...You know, they kind
of wrapped my head...But I am almost positive that by the time I came home
it was gone and I was showering as normal...
But sometimes brain fog doesn't let me remember that well...
Also the pain from that surgery was nothing like the pain to my stomach when
I had WLS....Unlike Men....Our muscle has nothing to do with our brain ;)

Staples were used when I had my hip surgery and there
was no dressing.  Within a week (5 or 6 days) a nurse
ushered me  into a shower and gave instructions on how
to shower while sitting on a bench and holding a grab
bar while standing.

The nurse used a cap hair cleaner after my TKRs.  It felt like a gel
cap that was put on my head and rubbed around. It did clean my hair
and had a good fragrance too.  I don't know what it was called.
