Hey Nell. Glad to see you back. Keep checking
Freecycle.com in your area. Older computers are listed
there for free at least once a month. With luck you can
move up to at least Windows 98 and then maybe further.
And another place to look is a place where I just
donate 2 large entertainment centers and a couple
picked them up today. They paid $19.99 for them. The
charity got money. I got rid of the centers. Everyone
was happy.

If that doesn't work, go to ebay, click on ebay stores,
click in the search box and type Gifts for Sight.
Looks like there are 8 computers there now. Trouble
with the sight is that there is now way to search on
state and so you have to click open each one to see
where the pick up will be. Someone bought a brand new
Amana side by side for $41 the other day but you needed
to be near some city in Indiana or pick up would be
tricky. :)

I'm going to try to get the other computer back up (it'd be the second
clean install in a year) but I need another monitor because I was given
the 95 (it's a Packard Bell) w/o the monitor. I'm going to continue
using it because it has CyberSitter on it and my 9 year old grandson can
be on it and not go anywhere he shouldn't. The last time he was here, on
my other computer, he mistyped an URL and got to a site that was a
sight!
I got to thinking that maybe something there conributed to the crash. Or
not. I'd had problems with the Dell (the one that crashed) from day one.
I got it used, too. Found out from Dell that it'd been shipped out with
Win 95. It was built in 1997. The "new" one was built in 1995.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. I like things where charitable
orginazations get something out of it.
I don't drive so it's a hassle even to get hold of something in New
Jersey (I live in Ocean County). The Dell a friend drove me up to
Monmouth County (the county just north of me) and this one the friend
brought to church so that the lady who gave me a ride to the ladies
meeting could drive it and me home. If I drove (I hate asking for
people to take me all over the place) I could go as far afield as NYC,
eastern Pennsylvania, or Delaware.
